What was the new look? Just the yellow oval?

(which is my favorite look by the way-yellow oval, blue and gray. with hot pink highlights :)).

When I was a kid I thought that was true.

Mid- to late-1960s and early 1970s Batman comics had some fantastic art!

Top two. Reading all the Aparo penciled issues of Brave and Bold turned me from "nobody else but Neal" to recognizing how awesome Aparo was.

Hard to choose between the two.

Somebody has to give Bob Brown an honorable mention.

My favourite as well.

But the highlights aren't hot pink, they're HotPink, Rob. Sheeeesh!

Adams is very very good - but Aparo is a GOD! Even as a kid I thought it was a crime that Adams got all the good press for modernizing Batman - Aparo was there the whole way too, and he had already done the same with Aquaman!

But not as good as Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin (back in the day). ;)

To be fair, Adams and Aparo both did far more issues, and they are the main giants on whose shoulders Rogers and Austin stood. But I still treasure that short run...

I'll never remember my first exposure to Brian Bolland in the pages of JLA #200. The splash page of Batman about to jump Green Arrow and Black Canary - I had never seen him look so cool.

Bolland is an artist's artist. The guy is a fantastic draftsman. My biggest influence in my inking.

Aparo is a good artist and a solid storyteller, but I don't think he's in the same league as Neal in terms of being an innovator or in terms of pure drawing skills.
