Big week for me:



Oh, no it's not. Nothin'. I'm done with Brave and the Bold. That book of destiny story is getting tired, and Perez is leaving the book soon too. Seemed like as good a time as any to wrap up. Down to one monthly now. Yet I'm spending as much as ever, if not more!

Amazing Spider-man #551 - I've been enjoying Brand New Day.

Batman & the Outsiders #4 - The first 3 issues were good art & storywise, I'll stick with it for a while longer.

Brave & the Bold #10 - Last Perez issue. I'll miss him on the book, but Ordway is a decent enough replacement.

Conan #49 - One more issue until "reboot", I'll miss this book but hopefully the new book will be as good.

Grendel: Behold the Devil #4 - Matt Wagner goodness, I love the Hunter Rose incarnation of Grendel.

Incredible Hercules #114 - This book has been surprisingly good.

Red Sonja #30 - Fun book, I think they're close to finishing the Kulan Gath storyline.

Scream #4 (of 4) - Peter David & Bart Sears, this has been good and the Sears art isn't as muddy as his Warlord work.

Spirit #14 - First issue of the new creative team, I'll stick around to give them a chance to win me over.

Star Wars: Dark Times #9 - A "Guilty Pleasure" book, and it's shipping schedule looks to be on track(finally).

My LCS is closing down at the end of the month, and there'll be no new comics in this week, so I'm taking the opportunity to more or less quit the monthlies, and start reading books by TPB. There'll be some exceptions, of course, so I'm going to pick up Ex Machina 34, and I'll see out the current arc of Runaways with 29 this week and the last one next month.

Have we learned what Perez next project after B&B is yet?

Ultimate Human 2: Hulk vs Iron Man - lots of fighting and Ellis even makes the science talking head bits interesting...fun stuff...9/10

Terror Inc. 5:a gory brutal end to a gory brutal mini...really enjoyed this series and hope we see more of Terror by this creative team..a really over the top comic..perfect for the MAX imprint...9/10

Batman & the Outsiders: Dixon keeps the story moving at a fast pace..action, fun, humor and mystery..DC needs more books like this (and NOT a friggen countdown crossover..self contained thank you very much)..8/10

Checkmate 23: not as good as the last few issues..too much set up..a little boring..some great scenes with Superman but did not hook me or give me a sense of gravitas...6/10

Robin 171: another well done bat book by Dixon..he really knows how to write Robin (and Batman) in a fun action packed way..love the mysteries too..i hope it really is you know who...8/10

ASM 551: great ending to a fun arc with some geniune surprises...i like the little mysteries too..they are always fun and a staple of the spidey books..good action and Gugenheim is great on dialogue too...8/10

Immortal Iron Fist Orson Randall Green Mist Death -- this bad boy was awesome. Is there an ongoing thread where we discuss this?

I encourage all to pick this up. They're going crazy go nuts with this retro pulp feel, and now tying it in perfectly with the present day story -- the tournament among the seven cities.

Amazing Spider-man #551 - Nice wrap up, I'm enjoying this book(unlike when I dropped it).

Batman & the Outsiders #4 - Felt like I jumped right into the middle of a story, and where is Geo-Force?

Conan #49 - Alright, one more issue until Conan the Cimmerian starts in July.

Grendel: Behold the Devil #4 - Grendel and a mysterious foe, or is it just Argent? I'm enjoying this and it's only halfway done.

Incredible Hercules #114 - Poor Herc, just when you think he's been abused enough they throw the monkeywrench at you.

Red Sonja #30 - Does Sonja deserve where she's going, if judged by the flashback this issue maybe.

Scream #4 (of 4) - Left a bit more questions at the end, but maybe David, Sears & Elliott will do a follow up.

Star Wars: Dark Times #9 - this is definitely the darker of the SW Universe books.
