Hi folks,

If you get Previews, support your local Taft and grab a copy of Weird Tales magazine issue #350, as listed in the April Previews catalog. I've got a piece set to run in that issue. Though I haven't seen it, I'm told the Previews catalog lists me as one of the authors, right next to the fellow who wrote Star Trek's "The Doomsday Machine." That's pretty neat!

Even you don't get Previews, no sweat. The magazine hit the stands in June and is available in fine bookstores everywhere. (Pretty sure my Barnes & Noble carries it, right next to Asimov's Analog and others.)

Support your local Taft.

Buy Weird Tales.

Thanks everybody!

A rephrasing of my post from Supey:

Congratulations! I will buy this issue (oh yes, I will have it), and perhaps write a letter to the editor of Weird Tales --"Dear Sirs, enough will all of your so-called "weird tales." You and your kind should take a bath, get a haircut, and buy more essays like that of Mr. Taft. I like the cut of his jib."

I won't say it in the letter to the editor, but you should also take a bath.

Congratulations Eric. Been a long time since I picked up a issue of Weird Tales, but I'll grab this one.

Be sure to post a reminder when that issue of Previews hits for us older dudes with shitty memories. :)

Congratulations, Taft!

Note that, aside from bringing us such literary figures as Conan and Taft, Weird Tales is also the employer of IMWANker Stephen Segal, who is I believe an editor there or summink. Ah, here we are: "Editorial & creative director, WEIRD TALES magazine". So in buying this magazine you support TWO fellow IMWANkers. Wotta deal!

Admittedly, supporting Taft sounds daunting enough. But I have to assume Stephen will be much lighter.

I did not know this. I now suspect some sort of insider dealing, possibly involving kickbacks. My estimation of Taft has just increased.

I can accurately say that, were it not for IMWAN, Taft would not now be preparing to join the pantheon of Lovecraft, Bradbury, and the demented necrovoyeuristic penguin who appeared in a comic in our last issue.

You're saying that Crouton Jim is in Weird Tales too?

If I can actually track this down, I'll get it. Good work, Eric.

Wow, what an odd coincidence! Nope, I mean Barry Pago, the penguin from Jamie Tanner's brilliantly freaky graphic novel The Aviary.

I should note: issue #349, which is listed in the current, February Previews, is our big 85th anniversary issue, featuring a new Elric of Melnibone novella by Michael Moorcock (illustrated by awesome Project: Rooftop artist Ming Doyle), stories by Tanith Lee and Sarah Monette, an interview with China Mieville, and our colossal list of the 85 Weirdest Storytellers of the Past 85 Years.

Issue #350 will have Taft's piece, a story by Norman Spinrad of Star Trek renown, and an interview with Mike Mignola, among lots of other great stories and art!

Wow, that's a fantastic lineup. What a glorious, glorious issue. Love to read some new Elric, and China Mieville is an interesting guy with a wild imagination. Good stuff; sold!

Hmmmm. For some reason I figured, "April Previews" and thought magazine style, as if the April previews would be out this month. But no, the April Previews will be out in April, won't it? So I'm a bit early with this.

Oh well.

Support your local Taft and your friendly Stephen anyway. And always.
