FANTASTIC FOUR LOST ADVENTURE -- One of my earliest comics was a reprint of the Janus storyline by Lee/Buscema (was that #108/109?). Seems that was inspired by this lost Kirby tale.
JLA CLASSIFIED #52 -- Stern n' Byrne. Nuff said.

Walking Dead #46 - No one is safe, I love this book.

Wolverine #62 - Not sure if this is still Guggenheim's run, but it's better than Wolverine: Origins.

Showcase Presents Enemy Ace Tp Vol 01

The best deal of the day. I walked in, and there were no copies of Enemy Ace on the shelf, but I noticed one with a bent back cover corner laying on the table, so I asked if I could buy that one since I didn't care about the bend. They said sure, and gave it to me at their cost! $12 total for the two books, so I got EA for just about the same price as 2 1/2 regular monthly books.

The books I got to read at lunch after getting back from the shop:

Fantastic Four: The Lost Adventure - Not too bad, I like that they included scans of the original pages between 103 & 108 in this. I never read issue 108(which was included in the book) so it was an interesting comparison.

JLA Classified #52 - Back to the present in this issue, Stern & Byrne really need to be assigned to the JLA on a regular basis.

Walking Dead #46 - This issues proves that no one is safe, I wasn't really expecting to be shocked but this book is firing on all cylinders.

Booster Gold 0: love the Blue& Gold team (hope its permanent..this really works well as a buddy book) but the ending has me wondering...we'll see..lots of great moments..love the zero hour surprise meeting..fun stuff...8/10

Suicide Squad 6: lots of action and some great little treachourous Squad moments..loved the ending..man the sh*it will hit the fan next issue..Ostrander is just a master at balancing a huge cast and a good mix of character moments and all out action...9/10

Spidey 550: BND gets better and better..love the new villain mystery (a staple of cool spidey stories)..some fun cameos and some great one liners by Gugenheim..he writes Spidey very well..all in all im digging this run..9/10

FF 554: Millar just knows how to write heroes that are larger than life..lots of set up this issue but he makes the FF interesting...Hitch is just brilliant...the double page spread is amazing...great start..9/10

Punisher one shot: was a little dissapointed..i enjoyed Swierczysnkis Moon Knight annual..but this Punisher tale felt a little flat...i hate to say it but anyone except for Ennis wont have the same punch on the Punisher..very hard not to compare to the main max title..a cool story but just not as hardcore as Ennis' seminal run...7/10

Reviews would be appreciated on this one. What is it like? You know I loved Unknown Soldier and Sgt. Rock. Haunted Tank kind of drug out for me.

Well it'll be a bit, because I have to finish Cap Essential 4 and Challengers of the Unknown Showcase before I get to it, about halfway through each of them. There are about a dozen Showcase/Essentials I haven't gotten to yet as well, but his Kubert drawn Enemy Ace book is jumping to the top.

-Force (i love the cover & the interior art. The Story is decent, but there's no way that this Cyclops could be Cyclops. A little be too violent too, though there's -too discret- parental advisatory on the cover. Above the code bare. Search well, you'll find it.)

FF by Millar & Hitch ( Boring. Not the FF. A few good ideas here & there + decent writing and overall good art. Thats not enough. I'm under the impression that Hitch was probably asked to make them look more like the actors in the movie. Not my cup of tea.)

I love this review of New Avengers #38 for comicbookresources' 'The Buy Pile'...

"Every issue of Hippie Avengers, er, Liberal Avengers, that is "New Avengers" #38 should be sold with a block of Gouda or Swiss, because only cheese can properly accompany this much whine. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones have a talk about their relationship. A long talk. Like, more than ten pages of talking. Seriously. Oh, and Danny Rand rents an apartment. Well, "squats" more like it, but it's best not to think about that. For all this tense character work, nothing at the end of the issue is substantially different from anything at the beginning, so why did this issue even happen? That's a good question ..."

Can anyone tell me what good the Dodsons are for? They've been doing spectacular art on the Gail Simone's first Wonder Woman arc. This fourth issue (#17) is the last issue in the arc and less than half the artwork is done by them. What's worse is they didn't coordinate with the fill-in artist, so character designs go from ornate (Dodsons) to bland (fill-in) and back again.

Are they always this slow?

Also, I didn't care for no panel borders in Hitch's first Fantastic Four. I hope they make him put them in. It just looks weird and wrong.

I don't agree that nothing substantial happened. The reveal of the Skrull plot to the Mighty Avengers, the New Avengers moving to Danny's and his taking on a bigger role in the book, and possibly the first non-BND appearance of the BND Spider-Man.

Of course, I loved Alias, so the ten pages of Luke and Jessica talking, written by Bendis and drawn by Gaydos was enough for me.

Wallace Wood's Wayout - If you're a fan of Wood, check this out. Collection of inkwash and duo tone illustrations Wood did for Galaxy magazine back in the late 50's. Very nice.
