Are the elevator repairmen Time Lords, perhaps? That could explain the sign.

A more fanciful theory is that they're unaware of the spellcheck feature on their word-maker machine thing. Those computer thingies....you know what I'm talking about.

I think it's my head that's exploding, because I don't see what is wrong with the sign.

There are three elevators. Two are for residents of the apartment. Those
elevators are now working. However, the third elevator, which is used by
the service personnel or to carry freight is NOT working.

What mistake did I miss?

My other theory was the freight elevator has a fever.

If Frank's head doesn't explode for the misspelling, it may well do so when he sees Kevin's ungrammatical and mispunctuated 'I pay them guy's rent' which ought to have been written 'I pay those guys rent'. (Sorry, Kevin.)

Does that mean I got "I must go lie down" correct by mistake?

Nah, you got that wrong too; you're missing a full stop.

You need to add a full stop to the ellipsis.

Or that they relied on the spell-checker to their doom, as so many do. "Temporally" is a word, I believe.

It is. And they did.

Here's my favorite spell-checker-related story.

I was grading a paper a few years ago. A pretty bad paper. Among the many errors committed by the writer was the misspelling of my last name, up in that top right-hand corner of the first page where some students list out the name of the course and the date and the name of the teacher. No big deal to me, but the misspelling was clearly a case of trusting the spell-checker without thinking things through. (My last name, as many of you know, is just one letter away from a common female first name, and that first name is always what MS Word's spell-checker suggests when someone tries to drop my last name.)

I started to make note of her error with my trusty red pen. Then I noticed the student's name...or at least the name that appeared on the page. Her first name was Derendra, and we'll all pretend that her last name was Smith. Up in that right-hand corner were the words "Defends Smith".

Yes. My student followed the direction of the MS Word spell-checking feature and misspelled her own name.

Keep that story handy. Some day she'll be The President.

I had a friend copy aother friend's paper by hand, other friend's name and all, and hand it in. We called him "Xerox" but he hit us, and so it never stuck.

Explain about the "full stop" after the ellipse. I are confused.

"Full stop" is Britspeak for a period.

(The punctuation mark, not the menstrual event.)
