Get The Party Started With World Famous Siren Dame Shirley Bassey Diva's First New Album In A Decade! Get the Party Started by the "formidable force of nature" (Q Magazine) Shirley Bassey, the distinctive vocalist famous for her three James Bond themes "Goldfinger," "Diamonds are Forever" and "Moonraker," is Bassey's first album in ten years. The release celebrates her 70th birthday and combines 13 brilliant songs in a combination of new recordings and remixed and re-worked tracks by some of today's hottest producers. Get the Party Started features new recordings, new vocals and remixes of classic tracks including "Big Spender," "You Only Live Twice," "I Will Survive," the infectious new single "The Living Tree" and the searing title track--a newly recorded version of Pink's "Get The Party Started." In a career spanning over 50 years, Dame Shirley Bassey has sold millions of records worldwide and spent more weeks in the charts than any other British female recording artist.

I'm intrigued to hear the title track.

Is "Hello" a cover of the Lionel Richie song, I wonder? That sounds cool.

I picked this up last year in its import edition; I was pleasantly surprised by it, too! Imagine a very full-throated Shirley Bassey (she hasn't lost anything, apparently!) belting out "Get The Party Started", "Goldfinger"-style, over a thumping groove, and you can imagine how it sounds...any fans of Bassey or just of interesting cover versions will enjoy this album quite a bit!

Her first album in a decade? There are only 2 new recordings on this CD: the title song (awesome) and "The Living Tree" (an incredible dramatic, rock-ish ballad). The other tunes are remixes. BILLBOARD last year noted that she had signed to Decca, who would release this album, as well as "Bassey's next album, which is understood to feature theme songs from the James Bond movies."
