2007 album from the Welsh Rock weirdos, their eighth studio album in 11 years. Their unique mixture of British Rock, Psychedelia and Folk has endeared them to critics and their large legion of fans. With each album, SFA take a musical step forward while never letting go of their brilliant past. The perfect band for those 'wake and bake' moments. Rough Trade.Disc: 1 1. Gateway Song 2. Run-Away 3. Super Furry Animals perform rarities in Brooklyn

Jan 29, 2008
Super Furry Animals performed several rare live tracks at their sold-out show in Brooklyn at the weekend (January 25).
The band made their debut appearance at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg on Friday, playing 26 songs for the enraptured crowd.
Opening with 'The Gateway Song' from brand new album 'Hey Venus!' they made their way through tracks from their lengthy back catalogue including ‘Keep The Cosmic Trigger Happy’, which received its live US debut.
‘If You Don’t Want Me To Destroy You’ from their 1996 debut album ‘Fuzzy Logic’ was the winner of the band’s online voting system, in which fans can request songs for each night’s set list on the band’s current tour of the US and Canada. The system currently only makes available to the band the song with the most votes.
They played many tracks including ‘Run-Away’ and ‘Battersea Odyssey’ from ‘Hey Venus!’ , and also performed ‘Guerrilla’ favourite ‘Northern Lites’ in the style of Teenage Fanclub.
The tour continues tonight (January 29) in Carrboro, NC.
Meanwhile, fans in the New York area who couldn’t get tickets for the sold-out Brooklyn and Hoboken shows last week can catch the band when they play two nights at Bowery Ballroom at the end of the tour.

Super Furry Animals perform shortest song ever
Feb 11, 2008
The Super Furry Animals performed their shortest song ever at a sold-out show at the Echoplex in Los Angeles on Friday (February 8).
Frontman Gruff Rhys took the stage wearing a giant space-helmet in the shape of a lizard, which he sang out of during the first songs of the hour-and-a-half long set.
The Welsh band played songs spanning their career, focusing heavily on their most recent album 'Hey Venus!'.
Following the brief album opener 'The Gateway Song' and 'Run-Away', Rhys introduced the band's shortest song ever, asking the audience to put their hands over their heads and wiggle their fingers to "amplify the sound waves".
The audience complied, and the band played the song, which lasted about five seconds and contained one lyric.
Super Furry Animals went on to play 'Golden Retriever' and 'Receptacle For The Respectable' before calling it a night.
The band are in the midst of their North American tour, with dates left in cities including Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago and New York.
