They only recorded two good albums and one duff one. We knew this was coming. If you haven't got any of their albums, this is your best bet. I've got the second album, so I prefer to get the first one and be done with it.

Does the DVD have their videos? It should include that movie they did with Meatloaf.

This post is in response to Walter P's current signature, by the way...

Last Thursday, my workplace had a sports-themed "dress up day" and my supervisor (a girl, not yet a woman) had the stones to wear a Yankees jersey, which is verboten in New Hampshire or any New England state. It's not technically against the law, but any hate crime against the jersey wearer would probably be deemed justifiable in a Massachusetts or New Hampshire court.

I remember when Jimbo came down a couple of winters ago, he wore a partially-concealed Yankees shirt under his jacket...probably just to egg you on Walter P!!

Spice Girls - very dated stuff. Won't go down in history as great music that's for sure.

Apparently, the CD is already available exclusively at Victoria's Secret stores (or Discorama, if you're in with the manager). I got a copy today, and it's got a sticker on it trumpeting the VS connection. I dunno if they have the CD+DVD package too--anybody? Anybody who cares?

Yep, it said in the newspaper the other day, they lipsynched thier performance. Makes me wonder if they're doing the same at their concerts.

On a sidenote, I was flipping through the sations last night and came across a Barry Manilow concert on PBS. It was promoting his "Songs of the 70's" album. It seemed to me he was lipsyncing as well. Although it was hard to tell, since he barely moves his lips since that facelift.

The Spice Girls kick off US leg of world tour in style

The Spice Girls kicked off the US leg of their reunion tour with an over-the-top performance for a sold-out, celebrity-filled crowd at the Los Angeles Staples Center last night (December 5).

Their two-hour set featured numerous costume changes into sparkly Roberto Cavalli-designed frocks, flamenco gowns and black leather S&M gear for a sequence with male dancers led around by The Spice Girls on leashes.

Throughout the night, each Spice Girl had their solo moment to shine. Gerry (Ginger Spice) Halliwell's came during a rendition of 'It's Raining Men' replete with scantily clad male dancers carrying umbrellas.

Melanie (Scary Spice) Brown sang a campy cover of Lenny Kravitz's 'Are You Gonna Go My Way' wearing a catsuit and wielding a whip on a man she pulled on stage from the audience.

Other members of the all-ages crowd got into the act as well, mimicking their icons by wearing Union Jack clothing, sequined mini dresses, feather boas and platform shoes.

Before the show began, Victoria (Posh Spice) Beckham's husband David Beckham caused a commotion while buying cotton candy from his box seat, which he shared with Hollywood pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who waved to the screaming crowd.

Later in the evening, recent Los Angeles transplant Victoria Beckham said to fellow Angeleno Brown, "We're home, Melanie," and the crowd erupted.

The Spice Girls ended the night with an encore featuring their biggest hits 'Wannabe' and 'Spice Up Your Life', punctuated by confetti cannons and a giant neon sign reading, "Mission Accomplished Spice".

The Spice Girls played:

'Spice Up Your Life'
'Stop'
'Say You'll Be There'
'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)'
'Lady Is A Vamp'
'Too Much'
'2 Become 1'
'Who Do You Think You Are'
'Are You Gonna Go My Way' (feat. Mel B)
'Maybe' (feat. Emma Bunton)
'Viva Forever'
'Holler'
'It's Raining Men' (feat. Geri Halliwell)
'I Turn To You' (feat. Melanie C)
'Let Love Lead The Way'
'Mama'
'Celebration Medley'
'Goodbye'
'Wannabe'
'Spice Up Your Life' (Reprise)

I was in Wal-Mart today (Walpole, MA) and they had two copies of the Greatest Hits with an Import sticker on it. I think it was priced at $14.88. Somehow I was able to resist picking it up.

Borders has the CD/DVD version on sale for $19.99. Seems preferable to the single disc version since their visual presence is a huge part of their allure.

It's strange seeing imports at Wal Mart but I've also noticed some recently. My local store had an import Miles Davis boxed set and just the other day I saw that they even had several volumes from the Hotel Costes mix disc series. It boggles the mind...

Reminds me a little of Best Buy's early days where you'd sometimes find strange imports and even "grey area" releases on the shelves...

In a semi-related note...I was in the Sarasota Best Buy last Friday and was stunned to see a Japanese mini-sleeve version of "Led Zeppelin III", complete with obi-strip, sitting on the shelf priced at $19.99.

J&R had a few copies on the shelf of this box set import version, which includes the CD, the DVD of videos, a remix CD, and a karaoke CD, plus some tchochkes. I shall resist.

After seeing Mel B on "Dancing with the Stars", I've come to like her quite a bit.

Although as for purchasing "Greatest Hits", or ANY Spice Girls product ? Like Jimbo, I must resist!...lol
