As a Philatelist, I'm pleased that the Beatles are giving "props," as the kids like to say, to the wonderful world of postal history.

Obviously, as the Beatles became bigger and bigger and bigger, the Royal Mail had to give them their own postcode, until, as shown, they not only received the prestigious postcode 1 for their very own, but they also received their very own postage stamps complete with the silhouette of HM The Queenll!!!!!

Good to hear another Ringo title is on the way. I wonder how many different packages this one will come in? I, for one, will not purchase on the day of release. I will wait and see if any tricks will be coming in the way of marketing. :p

Wasn't "Choose Love" released in just the one edition?

You're correct. "Choose Love" only came out one time, in the dreaded Dualdisc format. His previous one however, "Ringorama" came out in a special edition around a year later after it's initial release...

Jeff,

There was also a standard CD version of Choose Love, but I believe that it was released simultaneously with the DualDisc.

Release date is now confirmed, but information is pretty bare bones so far. The album is produced by Mark Hudson and Dave Stewart. No cover art or tracklisting yet. The album's title refers to Ringo's original postal code. :)

I read, I think in RS, that Ringo and Mark H had a major falling-out and MH would not be in the Roundheads or producing him anymore.
--please correct if I am wrong
--also, Chose Love did come out in two editions to back up the already corrected.

Thanks for correcting me guys, on that "Choose Love" came out in a standard edition. I had no idea since every store I went to only had the Dualdisc version. I went out looking for the standard and finally gave up and got the DD when I figured the other didnt exist.

Yes, Ringo and Mark didn't part on good terms. Mark was supposed to tour with the All Starrs, and backed out at the last minute to appear as a judge on some British version of "American Idol" which bombed anyway.
I had tickets to the Chicago show, and he was even in the advertisements for it in the papers. He was replaced by Hamish Stuart at the last minute.
Apparantly you don't cross Ringo. Clarence Clemons was set to appear in the second edition of the All Starrs when he backed out. He was never asked again...

The standard edition of Choose Love is harder to find than the regular one. And when I have seen it, the price is the same as the Dual Disc version.

Looks like you're right about that, Rich. I've updated the first post with Amazon's description, and it only mentions Dave Stewart's involvement, not Mark Hudson.

Ohhhh, the Japanese fans would love that. ("8" is considered lucky in the Asian culture.)

BIG BIG NEWS TODAY, Neal and everyone ~ EMI has announced that it's now going to be a TWO track CD single. :) (But the second track is on the album too, not unreleased. Oh well.)

Meanwhile, Capitol here in the States has already released the song "Liverpool 8" as an MP3 download ~ you can purchase the whole track or just listen to the sample to get a taste of the album. Ringo is in fine voice:

RINGO STARR TO HEAD UP CITY OF CULTURE LAUNCH PARTY

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is to perform at a rooftop concert to launch his hometown Liverpool's status as European City of Culture in 2008 tonight (January 11).

Ringo Starr will perform on the roof of St George's Hall and his set will include the unveiling of a brand new song too.

Also appearing at The People's Opening event from 20:08 this evening will be former Eurythmic Dave Stewart and local chart-topping band The Wombats.

City of Culture status will see a year-long programme of more than 350 events with the city expecting to receive an extra two million visitors boost the economy by £100m.

Exec producer for the Liverpool Culture Company, Clare McColgan has said: "The city has never attempted anything like this, Liverpool has been through a massive change in the last five years so we have taken that as the artistic theme so the show includes lots of cranes, aerial performances and pyrotechnics."

More information about the 2008 Liverpool events are available here: http://www.liverpool08.com.
