I am excited about this movie. THey are going right for the "Racer X" storyline, which was the most compelling story of the first batch of cartoons. We have the first "season" on DVD.

This looks fun, even the Mach 5 built from scratch(although I think there may be a corvette influence) looks good.

I never watched Speed Racer. Just a little before "my time".
But, damn will I be going to see this movie. It looks fun as hell.

Hirsch is one of the best of the actors of his generation.
I could do without the short Racer X, but it looks like fun.
It has a car with trunk full of kid/monkey! How bad can it be?

Well I didn't care that much for the cartoon...though hadn't watched it as a kid. The theme song was awesome though! and it has potential to be a fun movie.

I'm waiting to rent the DVD. It doesn't look like a lot of fun (other than the child and chimpanzee locked in the trunk of a car).
Goodman giving serious dialogue while dressed as a Mario brother doesn't fly for me either.

Yeah looking at the trailer, I would say that a good number of the compositing shots need to be tweaked to match the lighting on the green screen element with the virtual backgrounds.
Here are 2 that jumped out at me:
Notice how the Live action people elements are flat and low contrast? Tweaking the contrast on the GS elements would make them blend in with the backgrounds more naturally.
