Just saw some great news at the Spin CD UK site (about 1/3 down on right side under New Releases for 2008).

http://www.spincds.com

Graham Nash's "Songs for Beginners" is set to be re-released in the first half of 2008 in both CD and DVD-A formats!! A 3-CD compilation "Reflections" is also plannned. I have not been able to confirm this anywhere yet.

Since the album had been remixed for the Classic Recrods 200g vinyl release (supervised by Nash), I wonder if that will be the master used for the new reissues.

Image

Nash's acclaimed 1971 solo debut reissued in a deluxe, two-disc CD+DVD edition. DVD also features an all new 2008 video interview with Graham Nash, plus a photo gallery and complete lyrics.

1. Military Madness
2. Better Days
3. Wounded Bird
4. I Used To Be A King
5. Be Yourself
6. Simple Man
7. Man In The Mirror
8. There's Only One
9. Sleep Song
10. Chicago
11. We Can Change The World

"Next to"? Shouldn't Voyage be under 'C', and Reflections under 'N'?

It may not look so nice if Nash's set comes in completely different packaging.
Crosby's Voyage had intricate packaging to produce, which may have contributed to it's high list price. Maybe Rhino is considering more conventional packaging to help sell these 3CD sets...I don't know.
I thought these boxsets from David, Stephen and Graham would all look great if they all were packaged in the same sized packaging, but I haven't read anything to confirm that this is the plan.
It will be interesting to see what is released.

jimbo,

in any other case, yes, but on the CSN shelf it will be right next to "voyage", just waiting for stephen' s to go in between.

renny

p.s. i hope they use the same type packaging, it would look so nice.

I need to have a copy of Songs For Beginners in my collection. The DVD-A will suit me quite nicely.

I suspect the packaging for the Nash and Stills sets will be the same. I think the tip off is the big C in the spine of the Crosby box, allowing us to have a big CSN on our shelves, as Renny said. :-)

I can't wait for this set and the remastered Songs for Beginners. This looks like the same release plan used for Crosby: the box and the remastered 1st solo album.

Very cool on Songs, which is the only GN solo album I like. I hope it's a remaster, & not a remix.

Songs for Beginners is a fine album, and often overlooked. Not quite on par with If I Could Only Remember My Name, but not too far from it. If this is all done as well as the Crosby stuff, it will be a real treat.

Bring on the Stills!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Amazon, the Crosby box is out of print (though they show the deluxe IICORMN as being back in print..)

This Lp is part of the Perro Sessions. We need a box set of those sessions. CN@y, Jefferson Airplane, The Dead, Quicksliver etc etc......all playing on these sessions. Somebody needs to get these artist to sign on the dotted line and put together a nice 3 or 4 Cd box set. Some of this stuff is jaw dropping to say the least.

Are you saying Songs For Beginners is part of Perro? I'd never heard that before. It has a pretty different feel then the Perro stuff I've heard

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but Musictap is reporting a September 23rd release via Rhino of an expanded edition of Graham Nash's SONGS FOR BEGINNERS - and most excitingly, they're reporting that it will include a DVD-A disc with stereo & 5.1 mixes! Seems like this will be a nice companion to the David Crosby IF I COULD ONLY REMEMBER MY NAME reissue, and what a surprise, considering Rhino had all but officially abandoned the DVD-A format. Crossing my fingers for this one...

(It will also be a nice companion to the new Jackson Browne disc being released the same day. It's like seventies Laurel Canyon all over again!)

And while we're on the subject, anyone know what happened to the (announced?) Rhino Encore reissue of INNOCENT EYES?

Joe

I'll be on this one. Hopefully availability won't be as weird as IICORMN was.

there were a bunch of things that due to be released from the CSN(Y) camp:

songs for beginners - reissue
innocent eyes
the first crosby*nash
neil's toast
neil's harvest moon live

that all got canceled or delayed when it was decided to release CSNY "deja vu live".

no explanation given, although the general consensus seems to be....neil!
