Yeah, I'm glad about that too. I liked this. Probably the only event book I've ever liked.

Not bad, a few unexpected occurences, but a definite end to that story with the possibilties for future stories.

I was underwhelmed. It seemed to cut-and-dried...too pat of an ending. It felt like a Scooby-Doo ending. The bug guy whips off his mask, and says, "Ha ha! It was me all along! And NONE of you EVER suspected!". Then the Hulk conveniently goes into a coma.

Yeah, that's true, but it's nice that Reed and Iron Man and the gang aren't responsible for genocide.

It is nice that they weren't. But once again we have a situation where the Hulk was fooled, much damage was caused. It's in keeping with the inherent tragic formula of the character... but I still would have preferred the scenario that many speculated, that Reed was in fact a Skrull and that this plot would have been exposed thanks to the Hulk's arena.

It is hard to accept the notion that the Hulk will ever be the same again (once he reawakens) given these events.

I'd also like to take the time at this moment to smuggly say "I told you so" to all those who doubted me when I said the Hulk could beat the Sentry. You'll excuse me while I savor the moment... he hee.

Oh, and one thing I did NOT like...

Spoiler: show
Skaar, Son of Hulk... unless this takes place in an alternate future of somekind, I'm staying away. Far away.

I like Skaar, the Son of the Hulk myself. It'll be great when him and dad battle it out.

And God yes, I was really really really happy that the Hulk kicked the shit out of that fruit, Sentry.

My "I've been reading comics forever, and I'd bet *this* is going to happen" prediction is that a revived Rick Jones will be the Red Hulk.

Man...I know they needed a "big ending" for this series, but where's the fun in killing off all of the long-standing supporting characters every time you need to put a superhero through the wringer? Moira MacTaggert, Sue Dibny, Betty Banner, Aunt May (at least twice, going on three times), Mary Jane (for about a year), any Robin's parents...

Someone please call Pepper Potts and warn her that Iron Man's got a movie coming out soon, and he might need something ansty to happen to him so that he can declare revenge on somebody. It's not too late!

As long as readers fall for this hook, line, and sinker, it won't be going away anytime soon. Sex sells, but in comicbooks, death seems to sell more.

Excellent book. The Hulk's never fought harder. Sharp script, powerful art, and loved the colours this issue. Will be picking up World War Hulk: Aftersmash and Warbound!

Really? When and where?

Quote:
With the Civil War causing Tony Stark considerable moral, political and emotional problems, Happy Hogan continues to give Tony much needed advice. In an important moment of crisis, he says to Tony: "You, my friend, are the only cape in the bunch [of superheroes] that's both one of us [that is, human] and one of them. Who else can see both sides the way you do?" On the night of his anniversary with Pepper, Hogan is attacked by the Spymaster (who was seeking to use Hogan as bait to draw Iron Man). Spymaster threatens to kill Hogan first, then Pepper. Angered, Hogan grabs him by the neck and they fall several stories (Invincible Iron Man vol. 4 #13), leaving Hogan in a vegetative coma.

While he is in the coma, Pepper speaks to Tony during dinner. She tells him of Cobra McCoyle, a former boxing friend who simply took too many hits to the head. Cobra is unable to even feed himself and must be taken care of. Pepper tells Tony that Hogan has declared he never wants to end up like McCoyle.

At the end of Invincible Iron Man vol. 4 #14, Hogan apparently dies; the issue leaves it ambiguous whether Hogan died naturally or whether it was because Tony Stark digitally interfaced with and shut down Hogan's life support.

Basically, Happy is in a coma. Tony eventually, after not wanting to, and some soul searching, pulls the plug. I didn;t think it was as ambiguous as wikipedia thinks it was.

Issue 5 was horrible, and the art work really dreadful. It was impossible to make out was was happening in the fight, who the Hulk was punching, Miek or Korg, Rick Jones in the tank or Banner, everyone bleeding from their eyes?? What a shame the regular Hulk artists did not get the opportunity to do this mini. The event went out with a whimper, not a bang.....

I just purchased and read WWH #5 today. I enjoyed it and it was a great issue. Concerning the Hulk & Sentry slugfest, the outcome is the way it should be. As for the Hulk spin-off series for next year, I'm not against it. But, I hope it takes place in it's own little universe.
