Despite the lack of costumes/supervillains, it looks pretty cool.

Way more Mass appeal that way. And any Morgan Freeman voiceover hooks me.

Kinda turned what was an original premise into just another assasin pic. Didn't do much for me...

I'm only vaguely familiar with the comic, so just judging it as a movie trailer....

Meh.

I'm getting a touch of Angelina Jolie overload, I think. I'm really quite sick of her.

I liked the comic.
This looks pretty good. Too bad they jettisoned a lot of the comic trappings, but as a cheap action movie this could be pretty good. I'm optimistic.
Though, Jolie? REALLY?

IIRC, from the promo stuff I saw for the comic, wouldn't Halle Berry have been a better fit for the character Jolie is playing?

Millar sort of "cast" Halle Berry as The Fox and Eminem as Wesley. I think this cast is an improvement.

Ordinarily, I'd be pissing and moaning about how emasculated and diluted this movie appears to be from the source material.

But I didn't enjoy reading "Wanted." I felt like I needed a shower after every issue.

So I don't care about this movie (to comment beyond this post, that is).

Not a bad trailer, and why not cast Jolie over Berry, Berry's latest attempts haven't been that stellar and Jolie still looks great.

You'd think that with the success of Spider-Man and all the rest, they'd be shoe-horning superhero costumes into films.

The problem is, it'd be folks in superhero costumes murdering and raping people. I can understand why they changed that aspect of it.

"Kill one to save 1000" ....doesn't sound like the same movie.

I hated the ending in Wanted(plus a few of the scenes made the character unredeemable) but I guess that ending could work in this movie.Strange that the changes don't really bother me.......although I think the sooperhero stuff coulda worked.......with a new ending :)

I don't fault Mark Millar for allowing this movie to be made. If a major studio wanted to do a Hyper-Actives movie starring Hayden Panettiere as Reactor Girl and Bruce Campbell as Alphaman... but have them in no costumes and set in a non-superhero universe... I'd let 'em do it. Money is good. And besides, my issues would still be around, somewhere.

I saw this tonight, and I enjoyed it.

I only have hazy memories of the original comic series. I know a lot was changed. I think this film's story is an improvement in many ways on the original whose tone was crude and attitude meanspirited. In any case, this film is very good for what it is; the action scenes are amazing, and the story itself although filled with commonplaces, nevertheless, pleases, and the ending - the last line - is quite satisfying. I like Jolie's performance in this film, in particular; it's far superior to what she did in either Alexander or Beowulf. James McAvoy was simply brilliant.

The film is broadly - though not entirely - orthodox in nature, but by being so, at least, it doesn't leave a bad taste in the mouth. Its morality, nevertheless, is slighty disturbing, but I still found the film to be, overall, mostly fun and entertaining. Go see it for yourselves, perhaps.
