The long-promised Faces expanded remasters are finally coming! No track details available yet, but all the albums will feature bonus tracks. (No sign of USA releases on the horizon yet, either.)

Alright! I hope there's a US release of these. I could be mistaken, but I think even with the relatively recent best of compilation and box set I think there were some single edits that may still be unavailable on CD. If true, I hope they can add them on to these.

Are these ones being done with the help of Ian MacLagen or not? Some time ago, "Mac" had said that there were going to be individual album reissues with bonus tracks that did not appear on the 5 Guys Walk Into A Bar...box. Then things got testy and then he pulled out of the project. Has this been ressurrected or not? This is the question I'm thinking of as I read this. When there had been an earlier announcement that he wasn't a part of the project, that's when I had decided I wasn't going to be getting these. This needs to be clarified.

What's the status of Live/Coast to Coast? Does Universal now own that former Mercury release? I wonder why that's so rarely in print.

Polygram bought Mercury, & Universal bought Polygram, so unless the band owns the master, the answer is likely yes.

I thought I had an old undeleted email in my yahoo mail from Mr. McLagen -- but I guess not. I did have one from Lynne, from the Ian McLagen web site, so I asked her. This is her reply ...

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your message. We’ve received quite a few inquiries about the Faces reissues. I believe they are only being released in the UK at this time. I haven’t heard about the track list at this time. I’m waiting for more details, and will post info on Mac’s site when we have confirmation.

They do indeed include bonus tracks which didn't appear on the box set. These remasters have been postponed a couple of times since the first announcement, now Amazon UK is saying that they've been pushed back to March of 2008 ...

Interesting that the "Small" was dropped from the band name for First Step.

Or was "Small Faces" only used in the US?

Yeh. They began as just "The Faces" at home. Small Faces was used here to try to trade on past glories, which was odd since the Small Faces didn't really have all that much success here during the Marriott years.

I had this e-mail from HMV regarding my pre-order:

Quote:
You asked us to send you FIRST STEP: REMASTERED & EXPANDED by THE FACES. We're so sorry, but this particular title has had its release date put back to next year. The band are possibly set to reform for a few dates & the re-release may be held until then. The actual release date is yet to be confirmed.

That would be very cool. Stewart & Wood together playing rock!

I've got the box set and earlier issues of each CD. Unless these turn up at yourmusic.com, I don't see buying them yet again...

I'm coincidently listening to the box at the moment (I got it from BMG club awhile back for I think around $25). Was thinking (not for the first time) that Ron Wood had such a distinctive (guitar) voice with the Faces & Stewart solo; but when he played with the Stones it just sounded like Keith Richards X2. I'm sure the Stones were thrilled with how well Woody fit in, but I much prefer his Faces guitar style.

Thanks, Linda! Somehow that bit of info passed me by!!

The Faces were such a special band. They really should have been bigger than they were.

Is it time again to ask why Rhino is issuing these in the UK and not in the US? The Faces were at least as popular here as across the pond.
