“The Hulk mythos is about to explode” said “World War Hulk” writer Greg Pak last month in conversation with CBR's Jeffrey Renaud. It was then, at the Baltimore Retailer Summit, that Marvel Comics released the first image from what CBR can now confirm is “The HULK,” an additional monthly Hulk title; this one by writer Jeph Loeb and artist Ed McGuinness. With the new series set to debut in just a few weeks, CBR News spoke with the fan-favorite team about what makes January, 2008 such an incredible month for the Hulk.

So he's going to be "old redskin"? Or is this just some modern coloring gone mad with lighting effects?

Given the question mark on the black figure, I'm guessing this won't be Banner and instead be an all new Hulk.

THAT'S why Mighty Avengers is so late! Frank Cho's turned into The Hulk!

Oh, wait. You meant Amadeus Cho, didn't you?

He's black with red highlights. It's a conceit of the genre, microbrain.

I think the new Hulk may be Thunderbolt Ross.

Interesting that this "Hulk's" allies all seem to be on the pro-registration side.

It's probably one of those cyborg 'clones' - like that one of Thor. They'll have built an artificial Hulk...somehow. Either that, or they've given someone the power to 'Hulk Up' who isn't Banner.

If those really are his allies in the background, there...

I'll be getting this, that's for sure.

I like McGuinness and think he is a good match on Hulk but those veins are really distracting.

I'd rather he was on the real Hulk title, not this Hulk-red. What's next, Hulk-blue??????

I think it's either the Sentry-Hulk (which explains why WWH #5 is being delayed until after Mighty Avengers catches up), or Mastermind-Excello- Hulk (a smarter version of the Maestro).

I'm probably wrong.

Like the cover somewhat, but can't buy this on principle.

For me, Loeb is like the Puff-Daddy of comics. He rests on one or two successes, but remains in the public eye due to charisma and collaborations with more well-known talent. His best bits are "remixes" of material done better the first time. I will say he manages to talk people into giving him high profile books over and over again, and even carries this over to TV. So kudos to him on being likeable I guess. But I guess I'm mostly bitter about Hush. As much crap as Frank Miller gets for ASBAR and his pisstake, Loeb's run was even more unreadable IMO.

I've long said that big-name artists love working with him because he only plots about 30 panels per issue, so they usually get a couple of 2-page spreads and 4 or 5 splash pages per.

Lazy, lazy, lazy.

The silhouette looks like Ross.

Re: the Veins. I blame the colorist. If they were redder, they would hardly be as noticable
