>> 2007 issue UK CD album, re-issue of the fanclub-only release from 1983 that was originally limited to 1000 records only, now expanded with bonus tracks, the album compiles rare tracks, demos and hard to find versions, along with a fantastic live concert recorded in Swindon in 1982 celebrating the band at their peak, enhanced with additional rare tracks from the earliest days of Squire! <<

A mod-revival band from the 70s & 80s, and I've never heard of them? How is this possible?

In any event, I'm intrigued.

Squire weren't considered "serious Mods" by the scenesters at the time, unlike say The Chords or The Purple Hearts. They were way too poppy and wore some influences on their sleeves that were turnoffs to many in the Quadrophenia Qash-In Qrowd. (Been years since I've used that phrase.) For example they recorded a cover of Big Star's "September Gurls". Personally I think they hold up better today than several of the "true" Mod groups of that time do ~ outside their era, they just sound like a quality power pop band with some Who around the edges.

... just get them all from Amazon's third party dealers, cheap and fast. Pick up the Fan Club Album too. Instant Squire collection. :) Jimbo, you can file them next to your Merton Parkas CDs! :ohyes:
