Nash Looks Back With Extensive Boxed Set
2007 | October 1 | billboard.com

Looking back with an eye on the future is what Graham Nash has been up to these days. The rock veteran told Billboard.com he's putting the finishing touches on a 65-song career-retrospective box set, "Reflection," due in February.

"I've been remixing songs for my box set," says Nash, 65. "It starts in 1964 and ends in 2004. So it's the Hollies to the last record that David (Crosby) and I put out. And everything is in there. It's me solo, me with Crosby, me with Neil (Young), me with Stephen (Stills) and Neil, and me with Stephen, Neil and David."

He adds, "I had never actually listened to 65 pieces of my own music in a row. Why would I ever have the need to do that? But it was very interesting. I'm a pretty decent writer."

Among the material included in the box set will be unreleased tracks, as well as different versions or mixes of previously released songs.

Does this mean we'll finally get a proper CD release of "The War Song"? :yay:

Jim,

That was exactly what I thought at first. But I'll bet that Neil keeps that for the 2086 releases of the Archives, Volume 2. Since Nash played no role in wiriting it that I am aware of, it doesn't seem to fall within the parameters of the songs he was describing. But hope springs eternal!

Jay, you're quite likely correct, but like you, I will keep my fingers crossed! :crossfingers:

If David Crosby can have a box set, I guess Nash can have one also. I don't think that anyone would disagree that a Stephen Stills box set would be the best of the 3.

CLEVELAND (Billboard) - Looking back with an eye on the future is what Graham Nash has been up to these days.

The rock veteran has been putting the finishing touches on a 65-song career-retrospective box set, "Reflection," due in February.

"I've been remixing songs for my box set," Nash, 65, told Billboard.com. "It starts in 1964 and ends in 2004. So it's the Hollies to the last record that David (Crosby) and I put out. He added, "I had never actually listened to 65 pieces of my own music in a row. Why would I ever have the need to do that? But it was very interesting. I'm a pretty decent writer."

Among the material included in the box set will be unreleased tracks, as well as different versions or mixes of previously released songs.

Currently Nash is on a month-long stateside jaunt with Crosby in support of the duo's 2004 double-disc effort "Crosby-Nash," which was condensed in 2006 into the single disc release "Highlights." As for the future, Nash said a solo album could be in the works. He's already written eight songs, some of which -- including "Lost Bird" and "In Your Name" -- could receive stage time on the current tour.

When asked whether there are plans to record new material in any of his famous incarnations, he said, "Well, Crosby and I, right after this tour, are going to Australia with Stephen (for a Crosby, Stills and Nash tour), and then after that, I'm going back into the studio."

He added, "So I'm going back in, and if anybody wants to join me, they're welcome. That's the way we do it."

I once heard the Graham Nash had an inferiority complex about being in CSNY. Everybody else got so much press, Stills and Young wrote so many more songs and had more solo hits, Crosby was such a dynamic presence (when not too stoned). And then someone pointed out to him that he'd written the group's biggest selling hits: Marakesh Express, Teach Your Children, Wasted on the Way, which he said he'd never really noticed. Cheered him right up.

at thia point in time, i look forward to anything new from CSorN.

another CSN album would be wonderful, but then so would a CN album or a nash solo album.

it does look however, that CPR may be over. seems crosby and pevar had a sort of falling out, but i can't get any info on it. dean parks is playing with CN on the current tour.

That's too bad, I really like Pevar's playing. I'm not as fond of Jeff Raymond; he reminds me of Steely Dan singing off key...........

absolutely, the songs sung by james raymond on all 4 CPR albums are the one's i skip.

he might have gotten crosby's musical gene, but definitely not his vocal one.
