Loved this show. Wasn't the same after Chrissie left. Jack was so funny, and I probably responded to him pretending to be gay. And when he cooked, too. Mr. and Mrs. Roper were amazing.

Three years ago in San Francisco I was treated to a show where drag queens and kings re-enacted the pilot episodes of Three's Company and the Golden Girls. Funniest stagework I've seen in a long time!

They had a house drink called Christmas Snow Punch. I asked the drag behind the counter what was in it and she waved her hand along the shelf with about 12 different bottles of liquor!

It really is my favorite show of all time.

I like the early Chrissy-before she became totally retarded and thus less sexy and funny to me-and Terri years.

Cindy was the worst though.

I wish John ritter had done more physical comedy after this, he was very good.

I remember watching it a lot, and of course John Ritter was lots of fun. But looking back, I'm really rather embarrassed for having liked a show that relied so much on such crude humor.

The sad thing is, the show looks quite innocent alongside most of today's sitcoms!

I watched this show semi-regularly when I was a kid, but I don't remember too many details about it. That's unusual for me.

I do agree that John Ritter was a talented guy, though. Shame what happened to him.

I really liked it when I was a kid. When I got older it made me cringe and slightly ill. I thought everyone involved sucked but then I came to realise that John Ritter really was really cool, just that show kinda sucked.

I'll throw my one vote into the Genius category. Loved the show as a kid, Ritter was hilarious.

The innuendo and entendre' still hold up to repeated viewings.

I enjoyed the show!

Three's Company represented everything that sitcom's were at that time.

I've always liked the movie MASH, but not the series. I do think it's interesting, though, that the series lasted a lot longer than the war it was set in.

Let's test the knowledge of Mr. Steinbrenner, or anyone else who can remember:

What was the stated reason for Chrissie leaving?

Why didn't Jack like Terry at first?

Did Roper ever find out Jack wasn't gay?

Jack didn't like Terry at first because he first met her at a hospital in her professional capacity as a nurse, and she gave him a shot in the ass, or something.

Jack once told Roper that he was pretending to be gay. After a wild drunken party at the roomies' place, Jack and Stanley woke up in the same bed. Roper was all freaked out at first, but Jack actually admitted that he had been faking the gay thing for years, just to ease Stanley's revulsion. By the end of the episode, though, it was "revealed" that Jack was lying about being straight, and the status quo was re-established.

I don't recall why Chrissy (Chrissie?) left. I know why Suzanne Somers did, though. =)

Now... while MOST of the time, I agree with Yvonne pretty easily, I really have to disagree with her on one small point.

FUNNIEST EVER?!? I Love Lucy? No. Not even close. I think it defined sitcoms, but I rarely ever have found myself laughing when I watch it. I might go with the Honeymooners though (which also spawned the Flintstones).

Hrm... how would my list look?

My all time favorite sitcom: M*A*S*H

Funniest ever: Cosby Show (I think I decided it made me laugh more than any other)

Greatest sitcom of its generation?
1950s - Honeymooners
1960s - The Dick Van Dyke Show
1970s - Happy Days (and also All in the Family)
1980s - The Cosby Show
1990s - Sienfeld[/quote]

Runner ups would be Cheers and Home Improvement. Both were bridge series, not really enveloping a decade or holding the torch the way those shows did.

And Friends will probably get the nod for the 2000s since nothing else has really had the kind of influence it had or stories.
