Bannings: | If you're not nice |

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,169390,00.html>> Gillette Co. on Wednesday unveiled its newest shaving system, a five-bladed razor called Fusion with a trimmer on the back of the cartridge aimed at the 50 percent of men who have mustaches and beards.
Fusion is Gillette's latest product geared at maintaining the company's leading share of the world's razor and blade market.
It has one more blade than the Quattro sold by rival Schick, a unit of Energizer Holdings Inc. (ENR), plus a trimming blade on the back of the pivoting cartridge for shaping facial hair, trimming sideburns and shaving under the nose.
Gillette was the first company to sell a three-bladed razor, Mach3, in 1998. Five years later, Schick followed with the four-bladed Quattro.
Schick is adding a battery-powered Quattro to its lineup this month, while Gillette's Fusion — in both manual and battery-powered models — won't hit North American stores until early next year.
"The Schick launch has nothing to do with this, it's like comparing a Ferrari to a Volkswagen as far as we're concerned," said Chairman, President and Chief Executive James Kilts.
Some had expected Gillette to bring out a four-bladed razor, perhaps a self-lubricating one. Instead, it jumped to five blades, or six including the trimmer, and will sell Fusion-branded shaving gels and after shave balm. <<An artist's rendering of this Starfleet-worthy razor appears below. Question is, how many blades is "too" much? I was happy enough with the Gillette Venus (3 blades) ... tried the Schick Quattro (4 blades) and it sliced my legs to ribbons ... not sure that I want to see a five-bladed mutation when they get around to making the Gillette Amazon or whatever the lady's version of Fusion will be called. How many blades do you think you'll need in order to get electrolysised-feeling skin like Michael Jackson?

This is so stupid. I remember Saturday Night Live making fun of the two bladed razor with a spoof commercial for a three bladed razor. Now they're selling a five bladed razor. This is insane.

When I shave I find I like the Mach 3 over the others, especially the teflon coated Plus blades. Don't know about this 5 bladed razor, skin contours and whatnot...

I recall shortly after the Mach 3 was released, Playboy magazine had a very clever cartoon advertising Mach 10 razor that told was each of the blades did. I tried to find it somewhere online, but all I was able to turn up was this quote, "Mach 10" razor includes blades that "read the whiskers its rights" and "counsels the whisker and gives it a hug."
Wish that I could find that picture though.

Mach 3 is cool. It works for me. Blades are EXPENSIVE though.

When Gillette made their announcement, I immediately thought of that Onion article.

Maybe the sexy scientist at Gillette's site will get you bearded boys to go clean-shaven, finally!

The five blade thingie I saw advertised tonight! It did look like a good idear, but...blade razors? Good fer torturing, but I'd rather just WILL my whiskers to stop growing.

I hate shaving. I mean, I really, really hate shaving. You'd think after twenty-some years of practice a person would get the hang of it. Nope.

I remember that too. I thnk that this is insane that there is now a five bladed razor. Starting with the Mach3, with every annoucement of the razor with more blades, I think of that faux ad.
I like shaving. I currently keep a well trimmed stubble, but when I'm clean-shaving, the 12 year old in me keeps thinking "it is so damn cool that I have to SHAVE off all of this man-hair on my face." I will never ever ever grow out of that, I think..
Oh, and I use a SensorExtra, two blades. It's fine and I'm very adept with it.
