Don't have many details here, but a Bowie box covering every album from Outside to Reality is due Oct. 30 from Columbia/Legacy. It will be remastered albums each with a second disc of rarities. I hope like hell each will be released seperately, but I'll get the box if need be. I adore Heathen and Reality and the others were very good and interesting as well. This is one of my favorite Bowie eras!

Anyone have any details???

Man I've already got about 2 or 3 versions of each of these albums. For Reality I've got the DualDisc, the CD, the Taiwan CD+DVD...for Heathen I've got the original 2-CD set, the SACD...for Earthling the 2-CD set, for Hours the 2-CD set...

I don't think I can take yet more versions of these!

But I am looking forward to the re-release of the Buddha of Suburbia. That album couldn't be given away even when it was a cut-out in the markdown bin, and then somehow it became an expensive collector's item. Glad to finally get it at a normal price.

Wow. I've got some of the extras also, but if they all have a second cd's, I'll want this. I HATE MY COLLECTING BUG!

While I own all of Bowie's CBS albums (except Buddah, I really hated that one & sold it. I know it's being reissued, but are we sure Buddah is included here in this box? I thought Buddah was pre CBS), I think as a group they're the second worst period of his career (after the early Deram stuff; I don't count Young Americans as a period as thank god it only lasted one album!), but nonetheless I'll have to buy them.

MY BAD!!

Damnation, I just bought the 2-CD version of Earthling and have the 2-CD Hours too. :arrgh:

This is not supposed to include Buddah which is fine by me as I found that the equivalent of listening to cats after an all night feeding behind an Arby's. Not good in other words!
But I really, really love Heathen and Reality. Outside was intriguing but just OK, Earthling I thought was great and Hours was decent. Until I see a track listing I'm not sure about this boxset yet.

InvisiPed, where did you find this listing, anyhow? I don't see anything on DavidBowie.com, or Bowie's Wonderworld, or CDUniverse for that matter.

And ditto on Heathen and Reality. The tagline for Heathen -- "Classic Bowie, Circa 2002" was apt, for it was a creative resurgence to peak form. I'd put these alongside a classic album like Lodger or Heroes without hesitation. I feel that Heathen and Reality are among his best albums. Hours was a kind of soft intro to Heathen and Reality -- not as good, but a good lead in to what was to come.

I found Outside and Earthling to be too aggressive for my tastes, though they each have a good single or two.

PS Buddha comes out Oct 3. No bonus material, it appears.

Earthling & Hours were my favorites of the ones you mention. I've also always thought that Outside might be better without the between song narration. One of these days, I'm going to make a cdr that way & see how much I like it.

Well, we have 5 cats (no, we're not the crazy people on the corner with 200 cats and a mound of feces-we just love kitties and saved 3 from outside and 2 from a non-kill shelter), and they're all awesome.
I'd imagine a visit to Arby's would be rough on them!
As per Will's question-this was listed on Pause And Play and I also found it somewhere else-I forget where!

I'm glad you guys like "Reality". I didn't bother to buy it when it was released, but I think I will now! (I hate the cover art, though).

$81 - I don't think so unless BMG club blows it out. I realized I already have the a 2 cd Earthling, a 2 cd Heathen & a cd/dvd Reality.

I have at least a couple of these 2CD sets already, but for $60 this might be a convenient way to unify everything in one shot.

I never did get the 2CD versions (did buy the original CDs and the ones that are 5.1) so this collection looks pretty good.

Fortunately (for my wallet) the extras are mostly remixes that I don't care about & b-sides i already have from UK cd singles. I'm surprised they didn't use any of the live material related to these releases as bonus tracks. Just to use Outside as an example, there are singles for Hallo Spaceboy & Heart's Filthy Lesson with great live tracks; there is a Westwood One 2 cd set of an Outside concert, & there's the Madison Square Garden Broadcast. Those are just the officially recorded &/or released things that I know of; there's likely much more. DB also did at least 2 full length television concerts for Hours; the limited Reality has a live dvd, etc. I'd find that much more interesting then all these irritating club remixes. I also thought the Outside material in particular was better live.

Disc 8 looks to me to be the most useful, collecting all the Heathen B-sides from the various limited editions in one place. Though if you have the 2 cd edition of Heathen (available on Amazon for $3.00, the 2 part UK Hi single & the UK Slowburn single you already have all of disc 8.

On a different note, I just discovered a copy of Buddha sitting in my collection. I didn't realize I still had it....... Another sad commentary on my collecting bug!

Really sad to see there weren't any outtakes from Reality, or any from Heathen, that we hadn't already seen.

I have to say I don't understand why you guys think Buddha is so horrible. I remember playing it quite a bit when it first came out, and I still enjoy it every once in a while. Not one of his best, of course, but quite listenable IMHO.

I know...to each his own. :)

This has gotten my curiosity up. When I get a chance I'm going to pull out my DB collection & see if there is anything in this box I don't already have. It really looks like they did a lame job on the rarities.
