Recently came into posession of the first 40 issues of this series, and started reading them today. This is the most fun I have had reading comics in years. The writing is smart and funny and touching, and the art is crisp and clean and quirky. I can't recommend this series enough. I'm 15 issues in, and don't want to stop reading.

Yes! Invincible gets it. Wonderful series. It's almost kid-friendly too. Except for sudden moments of ultraviolence.

Yeah. I am totally and completely in love with this book.
I'm going to be picking up trades for a couple of friends and giving them to them as gifts so that they can gush over it with me.

That's quite a link.
I have all of the trade paperbacks. I decided to stay with them for at least one series. It's a very fun read.

I am enjoying these so much in fact, that I found myself getting angry that I had to go to work this morning instead of being able to chill in a comfy chair and read these all day.

I bought the first Invincible hardback and loved it- even though it was the story I'd obviously waited a bit too long to tell.

I started reading with issue 5 or 6 and I've kept up with it ever since. Kirkman's done such a wonderful job with this series. So much fun. I love the artwork, too.

I keep meaning to pick this one up. Thanks for the reminder.
I highly recommend Kirkman's run on Marvel Team Up as well.

Invincible is a great series. I came in around issue 20 or so and then got caught up with the hardcovers. Fun stuff and a bunch of well written great characters. The art is nice to look at and is clear and crisp. One of my favourite reads right now. The series really takes off after the first year or so when Kirkman knows he has an ongoing and can really build up the story lines (as he menitons in the intro to the second Ultimate Collection). There are a bunch of things going on and he always comes back ot them. No lost plot points here.
Everyone should be reading this title!

Wonderful series. The only thing I don't always like about it is that he'll have an occassional issue that's very scattered and doesn't really go anywhere (I'm assuming it doesn't read that way in a trade).

Chris seems to have issues related to his anger.
I'd criticize him on this front, but it occurs to me that I have identical issues.

This and Ex Machine have both long been on The List of books to explore. Word of mouth is great on both; I very much look forward to them -- if I can ever get around to reading them!
Having too much excellent stuff to get to isn't such a bad problem to have, really.
(Chris, that long URL is killing the thread! [url] tag that sucker!)

I picked up the first trade and loved it. Very much a Spider-Man for the 21st century. I read it with my then-6 year-old daughter. She loved it too.
But then the series takes a dramatic left turn and becomes much darker and more violent. Fortunately I had read ahead enough that my daughter didn't see what came next, though she kept asking to read the next one for some time after I told her it wasn't appropriate for kids.
It was still a well done book but a major disappointment to me. It went from being a unique and fun take on superheroes to just another deconstructionist exercise. I didn't like the second artist as much, either, but that wouldn't have put me off the book by itself. I got the next few trades and then dropped it.

Sorry. I've got a widescreen monitor running at high resolution, and it fits my screen perfectly, so it never occurred to me that anyone might be needing to scroll.
But I'm self centered, so there you go.
url tag? How do I do that?

I just picked up some Invincible. When I've finished Y: The last Man, Superman Confidential, Lost Generation and Superman: Birthright...I'll read 'em!

I bought and read the first trade.
I didn't actively dislike it, but neither did I see anything that leads me to want to read more. I will go with "middling" and leave it at that.
I'm done.
