This one is so tough for me to decide that I'm going to do something very un-American and not vote.

My two favorite "modern" comics. I can't decide between them. Forced to not vote as well.

I'm man enough to vote, and I voted for Calvin and Hobbes!

I loved the Far Side. Pointed and funny, always.

But it was an easy vote for Calvin & Hobbes, a melancholy, poetic walk through the chaotic elegance of childhood imagination and the crisp cynicism that comes with observing the world around you. A delicate balance to walk, yet one Watterson not only managed, but a realm within which he thrived. Zany and insightful, laden with pointed commentary and wacky sight gags, the sum total of Calvin & Hobbes was nothing short of a masterwork of the newspaper strip form.

Calvin & Hobbes. What Taft said.

All right.... I just looked at my bookshelf and I have 6 Far Side books and only 5 C&H books... that being the case, I think I'll vote Far Side. But I like them both pretty much equally. I especially like it when I "get" a FS cartoon and those around me don't. Makes me feel smarter.

I do so! :P I've only not voted in a couple of polls (which I've been interested enough to post/read the threads on). But Taft has swayed me. Forced to choose, I'd go with Calvin.

Calvin and Hobbes, for me, is up there with Kirby's FF or Ditko's Spidey or Moore's Watchmen-- the ultimate in what comics can do.

Far Side was just a badly drawn ripoff of the work of Charles Addams, Gahan Wilson, B. Kliban and S. Gross. Give me Calvin and Hobbes any day of the week.

As much as I liked the Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes gets my vote.
