Here's one for folks that treasue hooks, melody and good ol' fashion pop songcraft - I can't get this one out of my head.

Imagine "Julio"-era Paul Simon fronting the Violent Femmes with songs co-written by Brill Building Neil Diamond... if you like 3 minute pop sings - this one's calling you. Out in Canada for months, it's out here 9/18.

>> Troubadour Jeremy Fisher's US Debut 'Goodbye Blue Monday' Is Out September 18th On Wind-up Records

YouTube Frenzy For "Cigarette" Continues As Views Approach Two Million

On September 18th, Wind-up Records will release 'Goodbye Blue Monday,' the US debut of fast rising musician Jeremy Fisher. Fisher, the self-described mutt child of "Tom Petty, AC/DC and Bob Dylan," is a troubadour, storyteller and true DIY success story. From years of sidewalk busking to a six- month cross-country bicycle tour of Canada, he has performed his folk / rock-inflected music wherever the opportunity presented itself. Though Fisher's voice is unique, it draws comparisons to Van Morrison, early Bob Dylan and particularly, Paul Simon.

Jeremy Fisher is already an online phenomenon. His wildly inventive, low-budget homemade video for "Cigarette" is building major steam on YouTube.com and has been viewed nearly two million times so far. See it for yourself here.

'Goodbye Blue Monday' is a witty and literate collection of songs written by Fisher that range from the spirited anthem "High School" and brooding "Jolene" to the politically charged "Lay Down (Ballad of Rigoberto Alpizar)," written from the perspective of the United States Federal Air Marshal who fatally shot unarmed passenger Alpizar in the Miami International Airport in December 2005.

"I tend to gravitate towards the human element of the story and communicate with my fans through music," says Fisher, explaining the common thread in the songs. As for the album's overall sound, he adds " 'Goodbye Blue Monday' is a real throwback to a lot of '60s folk revival stuff but at the same time there are pop hooks in there and modern song structures." <<

And here's the video they're talking about:
