Anybody else find that tracklisting just a tad on the blah (read: obvious) side? I mean, yes, they're all great songs, but do we really need Kevin Rowland to point them out to us?

I think it's very uninspired. I would even quibble with the version selected for some of the choices. The mono 45 mix of "You Can't Hurry Love" is superior to the stereo mix, and same is true for the Four Tops "It's All in the Game & "Walk Away Renee", as well as Stevie's "I Was Made to Love Her".

Everyone seems intent on changing history. One would think the afterthought mixes for the small LP market of that time and the even smaller FM radio play were more significant than the original single mixes that sold in the millions, were played inexhaustably on the transistor and tabletop radios, and worn out on 45's.

I've always hated hearing "My World Is Empty Without You" on FM radio because it's always that crappy stereo album mix. The mono mix contains the music everyone actually heard first and that was the music that was successful. The stereo track is second best in many cases.
