This is a take-off of the "Novel" thread-- it's often joked that the only people who still read comics are people that want to break-in to the industry. I figure I'd put it to the test-- how many of you now or ever have decided to make an attempt to dream up a funnybook?

I have more aborted projects than I can count on all my digits. I'm currently working on an 8 page submission for Zuda-- anyone else submitting or self-publishing something?

I have created a comic - it was called STRONGARM from Image Comics and the last issue is nearly half done.

I'm currently pitching a new series called GAMBLING SOULS to everyone under the sun, both in the comic industry and the graphic novel book industry. Two nays so far.

Various other ideas I've had are coming to life as short stories in the how-to books I'm writing.

All of the stuff I was going to do in comics, I'm switching over to the prose only side of the street.

I did once have a gig as a writer on a project that fell through. The editor came up with the general basis of the storyline, and I handed in the first 3 issues, but he could never find an artist.

Oh, the ideas that hadn't hit the paper yet?

They will.

Earlier this year I was asked by an artist friend to collaborate with him on a comic. Flew out, we brainstormed on ideas, I crafted our Bible, outlined in detail five issues (one full arc), wrote up the first story (detailed, but Marvel style), and to date have only seen two prelim character sketches. They were good sketches, but that's all I have, or ever will, see of the project (which was, if I do say so myself, a pretty damn cool idea and a wild ride that would come off GREAT with the right artist).

But to be perfectly honest a fizzled out project is exactly what I expected. He's a friend so I entertained the idea until the "he's distracted with something else" writing was on the wall, but I never really expected anything to come of it. Figured at best I'd have a cool idea to stick in the drawer of never-to-be-realized ideas.

So no, I'm not working on a comic.

I've just finished an eight page mini for 'Popgun'- an Image anthology (my current avatar is taken from it). I've done a fair bit of small press stuff in the past for fun, but this is my first 'proper' comics job. And I had to be talked into doing it.

Was going to ask you about that. A disturbing inage, that. I like it.

I'm currently working on a superhero comic with a friend who has freelanced for Wizard and teaches journalism, literature, etc. Right now I'm trying to keep from becoming Taft's friend who fizzles out.

I always have smaller projects (mini comics, anthologies, stuff like that) going.

That there is some damn fine work, Mr. T. Bottom panel on the first page is just killer, and the overall look of the world (a gritty 1950s America meets sci-fi?) appears pretty spiff.

Don't be shy about plugging this when it's ready to roll. Those pages sure look nice.
