I would assume that most fans of New Orleans music are familiar with the name, Cosimo Matassa. Proper Music (UK) has compiled a 4-disc set of some of Cosimo's many productions. I've always heard positive things about Proper Boxes, although I've never seen or heard any of them myself, so I can't attest to the quality.

I've got two Proper boxes, Wynonie Harris and Gene Krupa, and they've got copious notes and lots of tracks. The sound is fine, too.
