So my monitor died the other day after 6 years of service. It was 17 inch Samtron flat screen CRT, and it served me well.
So now that I had to replace it, I figured I would finally upgrade to that flat panel LCD I have been convincing myself not to buy for the last 4 years.
My old monitor:
I decided that if I was going flat panel, then I needed to go bigger and better. After some research, and many user reviews, I found this:
This beauty is an Acer AL1916WAB. 19 gorgeous widescreen inches, with a 700:1 contrast ratio, and a 5ms response time. It's native resolution is 1440x900, and man is it amazing. It's a whole new world I tell ya. A bigger, clearer, more colorful world. And I am living in it.
The best part? This monitor lists for $240.00, but Walmart has it on sale for $168.00.
Seriously. A 19" widescreen flat panel LCD for a hundred and sixty eight smackers (alas, amazWAN's price is $189.00).
So if you haven't made the upgrade yet. If, like me, you continually find reasons not to trade in your clunky old CRT monitor, telling yourself the old girl still has life in her yet, even though the text has gotten blurry over the years, the images look softer day by day, and the thing puts off so much heat that you break into a sweat if you sit in front of it for more than 5 minutes, now might be the time to take advantage of this deal.
Oh, and did I mention that with the 5ms response time, games play without a hitch. And Tiger Woods in widescreen is a gas, as is Call of Duty, and Half-Life 2.
And I found a great site for widescreen wallpapers.
Anyway, don't take my word for it. Google it up and read the reviews.
Then run to your local Walmart and pick this puppy up. But make sure your graphics card can handle the 1440x900 resolution.
