Anyone else get chills when they see this? I remember when I watched the first episode of Enterprise, I was shocked that they went with what sounded like a Michael Bolton song. It took me two or three more viewings before I decided that I really loved this intro. From the first nautical images, to the shots of Amelia Earhart and the space shuttle Enterprise, to the shot of NX-101 going to warp, I just love it. The lyric is perfect, and the sentiment is golden.

I thought that was the best part of the show.

I thought it was pretty neat, at the time.

I liked the "history of exploration" angle very much, and the song was pretty good. Never liked the voice of the singer, though.

I always liked that opening. I was fully prepared to hate it for using a pop song rather than the traditional orchestral theme. But I was quickly won over.

I also got a kick out of this variation:

I liked that intro.

..until they added the stupid guitar bit a couple of seasons in.

I didn't like the music used. I liked the way the opening was set up though.

I didn't see any of the Soviet contributions to space travel.

Some alternate openings that I like; the first one is fan-made, but the other two use an actual theme which was considered by Paramount. One also uses Bakula's version of the classic "Final Frontier" speech.

I like the instrumentals. The top one you poster is my favorite.

I'll take that another step.

The visuals were just terrific. The song, on the other hand, sucked buttermilk from the ass of a dead hippopotamus.
