Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Steve Sadowski are producing this series for Marvel with a 2008 release date in mind, and with an interesting twist. Unlike JUSTICE, this series will take place in current continuity, with the Invaders circa 1942 traveling through time into the present day of Marvel-Earth.

Sounds interesting. My one hope is they don't go with the "pulling Cap from time" thing with this, and have it be a Cap who has never met the Avengers, etc. I'll give this one a look for sure.

Only one problem, if they're looking to have the two teams fight: almost any modern-day Avengers line-up kicks the shit out of the Invaders, Cap or no Cap.
Well, okay -- not the Great Lakes Avengers. =)

For no reason whatsoever - based purely on my own complete idiocy - I think they'll have it be a Cap who hasn't met the Avengers. Then he'll stay in the mainstream MU, and they'll be able to revisit the whole 'man out of time' aspect of the character that was such a big part of who he was. He'd be unaware of the registration thing, and wouldn't know Tony Stark or any of the others from a bar of soap. But he'd still be Cap, and the Winter Soldier is still around, so it could make for some intersting stories.
Just my mad raving.

I think there are a couple of line-ups that could be a match for the Invaders.
And the GLA once held there own against the WCA with Hawkeye as their leader.

Would this particular Cap ever have to go back to WWII to finish out the war? Wouldn't he then be frozen in ice only to be revived "knowing" who the Avengers are in Avengers #4?

Count me in. I loved the Invaders back in the day even with some of that horrid Frank Robbins artwork. I was thrilled when I heard about the Invaders coming back a couple of years ago and was devestated by the inept results offered back then. This new stuff I know will at least look good!
