Incredible talent lost forever.

What's so special about her? I've heard several cuts, and she was an very good singer, but I really don't understand why she's so highly regarded. Can somebody shed some light?

i've bought her CD's listened to them and then traded them in.

i always thought of her as wanting to be joni mitchell and just not doing it.

people admire her because she died at such a young age. i'm not sure of all the circumstances surrounding her death, but those who love, really love her.

Not to disparage the dead, but I feel the same as Greg. I have a dvd from her I've never watched; I'll have to check it out & maybe I'll "get it" then............

I have Songbird, have heard some other tracks. I like the album well enough and can recognize her vocal talent, but she is not served well by the production. I think that people respond in equal parts to her voice, her "backstory" (budding talent cut short by cancer, posthumous success) and the sense that she had potential. I think people hear what might have been more than what is there on the disc.
