When's he gonna make up with the 'Brother's and get back to what he does best?

Wasn't it the Brothers who fired him?

from everything i've read mr. betts has quite the drinking problem.

i know that gregg allman has balls judging anyone on substance abuse, but betts was very hard to deal with i guess.

I've heard Mr. Betts is one of those addicts whose a bigger pain sober than loaded - just not a pleasant fellow. Maybe that's why his touring band changes personel so regularly.

This same collection is available from Dickie's own site, albeit in plain packaging.

I've heard the same things about him. I have seen the ABB both with and w/o DB and it just feels better with him there. The sound is so smooth and right. Not that the current line-up isn't good. They are but just not the same.

I'm a huge Allmans fan, and Dickey Betts' firing still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He was, after all, a founding member of ABB (regardless of how big a pain in the ass he may be).

As Renny pointed out, Greg Allman has had more than his fair share of substance abuse problems. From all accounts I've heard, he is now straight and sober. Be that as it may, I still feel he should have given Dickey a chance at rehab (before abruptly firing him).

In spite of this, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are phenomenal - how many bands can boast of one great guitarist, much less two?

Like Rich, I've seen ABB live with and without Betts, and they've been consistently great. Still, I'd rather have him back as part of the "family."

Boy howdy, everyone saw that one coming from a hundred miles away. Of course the bet should have been who would be first. Renny wins!

I love 'em too and am going to see them again next month. However sometimes I think the current AllBros sound like Gov't Mule with more drums. I'm looking forward to hearing them since I'm guessing Derek has learned some long over do subtlety in his slide style after almost a year in the presence of Clapton.
