What is a Ho-Dad?
What is a Craw-Dad?

My Signet dictionary of Slang and Euphemism provides no answer.

Perhaps the Craw-Dad is a reference to crawdads. If this is the case, it is a crayfish. It's a little fresh water creature that is smaller than a lobster and looks like one. It's crustacean. When I was a kid and my Dad had our first ranch up here in Oregon, I used to go out to a creek and catch them with my bare hands. There were other times that I used to take a red sock and they would grab on while I put them in a bucket. Then I used to take them to the house and have them for lunch. This was back from '68-'72. I used to Summer out in a community called Lorane (where our ranch was) in '68 & '69 and then head back to Santa Clara for the rest of the year. From '70-'72, I lived here in Eugene and went out to that ranch very frequently.
If it's some other kind of Craw-Dad, then I'm totally at a loss to guess what it is.

Here's a burger joint named hodads - http://www.sdbeachlife.com/hodads.htm

And crawdads (crawfish) are delicious, especially in Etoufee (a cajun stew.)

“Hodad” is ancient surfing slang for one of them guys who owns a surfboard, who even brings it down to the beach, but never surfs.

Then there was the music magazine "Crawdaddy". I'm trying to think where I saw the spelling "Craw-Dad", but I've forgotten now.

What made you think of those two phrases? Are they from a song lyric or something?

A song by Bo Diddley and performed by the Rolling Stones...

HEY CRAWDADDY

Song was titled "Craw-Dad" when written by Bo Diddley in 1960. In 1963, the Stones would closed out their shows at the Crawdaddy Club with this song each night and the band renamed the song for their use. After they stopped playing there, they would only play it one final time, in Paris, France, on April 17, 1965. The song was recorded on that night, but never released, available on boot only. Sounds great, I'll add!

Now I remember, I was listening to Bo Diddley's 1964 album "In the Spotlight" (from BGO) and saw the song title "Craw-Dad". "Ho-Dad" I got from The Beach Boys and that whole surfing culture.
