Musictap reports that there will be an expanded Bridge of Sighs for October 2nd. I'm almost betting that this is going to be a straight reissue of the '99 remaster with the bonus tracks from a KMET live broadcast. I'd be game for another copy of this fantastic album if the bonus tracks were outtakes from the sessions.
I really hope that someday there will be more live '70s shows from Trower issued to go with the couple that have been released by King Biscuit and Griffin.

How is the mastering on that '99 remaster, anyway?

Hi Kym,
It'll sound louder than the MOFI, but you'll get the benefit of the live tracks.

Loudness becomes "Bridge of Sighs"! I think this is one of best remasterings ever, and the live tracks are very high quality since they were actually done in a radio studio I believe. They were not recorded in the typical Trower arena show.....

This is one of my faves, the loudness grabs you by the collar, shakes your brains loose, and does not let up! There really is no subtlety lost in any these tracks.

Hi James,
I coexist quite nicely with both copies. The Capitol one with bonus tracks does not slaughter this one bad oversensitive ear of mine when I listen to it with headphones. Also, back when I had my old stereo system up (before I got my A/V system, I listened to it with my hearing aids on through standard speakers and it didn't bother me that way either.

>> Guitarist Robin Trower's watershed sophomore solo disc remains his most stunning, representative, and consistent collection of tunes. This 24-bit digitally remastered 25th anniversary reissue, which tacks on five live tracks adding nearly 25 minutes to the original playing time, actually improves upon the original. Mixing obvious Hendrix influences with blues and psychedelia, then adding the immensely soulful vocals of James Dewer, Robin Trower pushed the often limited boundaries of the power trio concept into refreshing new waters. The concept gels best in the first track, "Day of the Eagle," where the opening riff rocking morphs into the dreamy washes of gooey guitar chords that characterize the album's distinctive title track that follows. <<

1. Day of the Eagle
2. Bridge of Sighs
3. In This Place
4. Fool and Me
5. Too Rolling Stoned
6. About to Begin
7. Lady Love
8. Little Bit of Sympathy
9. Day of the Eagle [Live]
10. Bridge of Sighs [Live]
11. Too Rolling Stoned [Live]
12. Lady Love [Live]
13. Little Bit of Sympathy [Live]

I picked up the new remaster today at my local independent store. I wanted to let you guys know that they list the John Peel '75 bonus tracks as being from 1/28/75. My old copy of BBC Sessions from the '90s on the Griffin label says the Peel Session '75 tracks are from 1/29/75. All the other bonus tracks are from 1974 Peel Sessions.

No wonder Capitol/EMI is in such a hole, their vision only extends to re-issuing reissues. Must have taken countless meetings, benchmarking, and M.B.A. leadesrship to have figured this out.

Where are the rest of the Trower albums? Why haven't they been upgraded and expanded? The BGO twofers are fine, but that is it?
