Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall burst onto the public consciousness last year with her gritty debut album Eye to the Telescope, a provocative sonic mesh of heartfelt pop, rootsy, electric blues, and left-field alt-rock. Eye spawned three hit singles — the Grammy-Award nominated "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," "Suddenly I See," and "Other Side of the World" — all of which became omnipresent on radio, television, movies, and the Internet. Now Tunstall is readying her follow-up, entitled [title]Drastic Fantastic[/title], which will be released by Virgin Records on September 18th, 2007. It showcases the 31-year-old's growth as both a songwriter and musician on songs like the thumping "Hold On," the rollicking "Saving My Face," the jazz-inflected "Someday Soon," and the frisky pop gem "I Don’t Want You Now." "I wanted to be braver," Tunstall says of the album. "I wanted to push the musicality. You can't let previous success scare you away from moving on."

Loved her first one. I'll have to see if I can get by this god-awful cover.

I was just thinking how much I love the cover. It's funny, eye-catching and, to my eyes anyway, kind of sexy. It also shows that she's not always going to do the expected, which is a good sign in my book.

I'm a big fan of her work so far, and agree the cover is kinda sexy. Hopefully, the deluxe version will turn up at one of the big boxes first week out on sale...

I'm a big fan of the rootsy rock and blues of her first album. Her feisty, husky voice didn't hurt either.

I just hope that the record company won't panic and drop her if sales of this album don't match the previous.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ms. Tunstall sticks around long enough to actually have a career.

Reminds me of a Rick Derringer sleeve but with better legs.

Anyone have the Deluxe Edition? I was wondering if the live tracks are complete or if they're just snippets.

KT Tunstall will release a third single from Drastic Fantastic in the UK on March 3. The various formats will include live cover versions of The Bangles' 'Walk Like An Egyptian' and 'The Prayer' by Bloc Party.
Given how much I love both acts, it will be interesting to compare her take on the Bangles song with the version done by The Feeling last year.
