I just got the Ryko 7/31 New Release sheet. Highlight is remasters of 3 Deep Purple CD's that have been out of print in the US for years:

Stormbringer
Made in Europe
Come Taste The Band

The only remastering info is
"Newly remastered from the impeccable Warner Music vaults, "

There don't appear to be any bonus tracks:

No, they don't; just straight remasters.

I should get these, then I can have my 17th versions of each album. Sigh.

Taken on its own merits it's a pretty good album, but honestly it sounds more to me like Whitesnake than Purple.

Okay, I'm confused now. If they're Warner albums from the vaults, why is Ryko releasing them??

It actually says "Friday Music" in Amazon's listings, not Rykodisc. Does Ryko have a new imprint just for reissues?

I agree. It is very Whitesnakeee. I haven't played that one in over 15+ years.

It's definitely a label owned or distributed by Ryko. My business is on their weekly new releases email; that's where I got it from.

Not as far as I know. They've always been available in Europe on Warner.

From Deep Purple Appreciation Society Website:

Stormbringer *updated 20.10.06*
The Stormbringer multi-tracks have been located. The tapes are in excellent condition and contain amongst other things three different vocals for 'Soldier Of Fortune', a powerful instrumental version of 'Highball Shooter' and Coverdale's original backwards bit for the start of the title track. Glenn Hughes has asked to be involved in the remastered Stormbringer, and will hopefully be able to drop into the studios at the end of the new tour to work on one or two remix ideas. We would expect this to be out in Spring 2007.

Friday Music Reissues *14.05.07*
The Friday Music label are planning on re-releasing Stormbringer, Come Taste The Band and Made In Europe in the U.S.A, through the Warner Music Group soon. The albums have no additional material added. Seems a strange move, and we would suggest fans in America hang on for the remaster of Stormbringer which is out later this year!

The DPAS is the authority on all things Deep Purple. They have always been on the money when it comes to news on releases.

I took a closer look at the email. It appears that Ryko is the distributor for Friday Music. The DP's were the only F.M. rleases for 7/31. It appears that Ryko is distributing a number of indies, including 2 that somewhat surprise me: Castle/Sanctuary US & Smithsonian.

Fair enough. I've added a banning to my tally.

(Go on, I'm wide open here....)

I may have to try the new Made In Europe as I have not added a digital version of that great live LP to my collection.
