This Collectors' Edition of Hawkwind's 1973 album is coming out in the UK on July 2nd ~ it purports to be the absolutely definitive edition:  >> 2007 special three disc (two CDs + PAL/Region 0 DVD) Collector's Edition of the veteran UK Space Rockers' 1973 live opus. The CDs in this edition feature the original album with some extended tracks (they were originally edited due to the time restrictions of vinyl) plus three bonus tracks. The DVD is more a DVD album than DVD video; it allows the listener to enjoy the album as it was originally recorded: as one long continuous piece of live music. There is a brand new 5.1 mix as well as the standard stereo mix and a visualizer will appear on screen while the music plays. Space Ritual was one of those albums that introduced me to a sound I'd never heard before. It literally roared out of the speakers. Still one of my favorite live albums. I wish I'd gotten to see the classic line-up play live back in the 70s.

The fact that this has a 5.1 mix is a winner for me. Luckily my Denon does PAL Video.

don't have any hawkwind - sounds like this would be a great way to start?
Anyway, can anyone remind me about the (potential) issues regarding
PAL/Region 0 DVD
I'm in the states...what should I look for regarding my own players to see if it compatible? Thank, Dan

Dan,
The Region 0 designation should run fine on any player in any country. The PAL format might be problematic for you, though ~ many of the newer DVD players automatically convert from PAL to the NTSC format we use on North American TV systems, and on some players you can change the settings manually to switch between NTSC and PAL, but older players might not show the video properly at all. Check your DVD's on-board settings as well the original instruction booklet, or the manufacturer's website.
