My first step will be to move my headquarters out of the frigid North to Hawaii. I shall magnanimously allow the current residents 12 hours to leave forever. (It ain't called the Fortress of Solitude for nothing, you know!)

I would love to own any of the Trek TV box sets if only Paramount would drop the price from $100 down to other TV shows' pricing of around 40 bucks....I don't need the fancy packaging like shown...I just want simple discs in a simple package...

Agreed. Star Trek has a history of overpricing this stuff.

I think at these prices they are only getting the hard core Trek market....if they would price the sets cheaper with simpler packaging they might get the more casual viewer to sample Trek and maybe if they had done that those same viewers may have been interested in watching the current show and the ratings may have been better.

Can’t argue with that. Especially now since what would be the point of trying to draw in new fans?

I am not sure of the economics but I wonder if they did lower the price they could make as much or more in profit from a increased volume of sales and mybe keep the Trek name in people's mind for the inevitable rebirth??

What they will do is, after they tap out the high end market demand, they'll do a second release with cheaper packaging for everyone else. Probably in a couple years.

Bingo. They just did that with TOS, moving from the 39 2-episode DVDs to the Season box sets. No surprise if they did it again.
