V/A Africa Express Presents... Bahidorá
My first purchase of the Africa Express series and I doubt it'll be my last based on this beyond excellent comp. The music spans cumbia, hip-hop, kuduro, soul, salsa, pop, reggaeton, folk, and more. It was recorded following a recent Bahidorá Festival in Mexico. Most of it is not sung in English but language is no barrier when it comes to great music.

Ruby Friedman Orchestra Chimes After Midnight
This is her sophomore album, released last month. Really enjoying it. Here's a pretty curate description of the album I found on the AmericanaUK site:
Quote:
“Chimes after Midnight” sets rock and blues against orchestral strings, disturbing banjo riffs, opera, and jazz, and it all comes together to make poetic sense in Friedman’s capable hands with her crystal-clear vocals and laser-like precision in storytelling.

Pink Floyd- 1969 Dramatis/ation I love the early, experimental years of Pink Floyd, it's overblown and self-indulgent and sometimes barely coheres as music, but there's an exploratory and mysterious approach I enjoy. I've played this music as often as the "hit" superstar albums but this still has more to discover for me. The version I have is from the Early Years box set, but that's out of print while the year by year sets can still be purchased individually.
