Musictap reports that Rhino will apparently issue a Greatest Hits package for July 17th. I'm going to probably plink down for this one. I have no idea what tapes the songs are going to come from, but I just can't wait anymore for single album reissues to ever pop up.

Count me in. I'd sure like to see some of those individual albums, though.

I'd like to see them all, and I know I'm not alone.

The other night my wife asked me, "How come we don't have any Seals and Crofts?" I told her that the individual titles weren't available and the greatest hits collection was so-so. Now I'll be able to tell her that we'll have something soon. Great news.

I think it's stupid when an artist has more compilations available on CD than invidividual albums. A certain album may mean nothing to the record label, but may have a special attachment to a fan (or fans).

i hate to bear not-so-good news, but i recall reading somewhere that this will only be the original (lame) greatest hits album with 3 or 4 additional tracks.

i hope i'm wrong.

How is the Diamond Girl album on Flashback? I've seen it around at a low price but was wary of the label -- knowing nothing about them. Are they a "Warners Special Project" imprint? Diamond Girl was my favorite album by S&C.

Here's some wishful thinking. My favorite S&C album is the live one, Sudan Village. What are the chances of that ever being released on CD?

Linda: That's the cover and track list for the original Greatest Hits collection, first issued in 1975. Let's hope it's just an oversight by Amazon and CDU, and we get something new, expanded, and remastered.

Rhino did this a couple of months ago. They just released the same disc in the slip cover with no changes whatsoever. I hope this is not the case as I would like to have an in-depth comp form these guys.

I'm guessing that that's what it is, yeh. Amazon lists this title and future Rhino best-ofs as "O-Card" reissues, so it's very possible that the only thing new about them is the slipcase.

You know...I really don't get the constant lack of attention to this catalog. Heck, you can't even find people posting good sounding vinyl rips online. Perhaps there's just not the interest that I thought there'd be. It's all very disappointing.

Wow...excellent news! I'll be ordering all of them. Since Wounded Bird typically sells direct much earlier than street dates, I wonder when these might really be available.
