Description
“Yeah!” is the third studio album by the American (hard) rock band Brownsville Station, released in 1973. The album is best known for its signature blend of hard rock and boogie rock, mixing upbeat, riff-heavy songs with a playful, fun attitude. Brownsville Station was part of the early 70s wave of rock bands that embraced a mix of mainstream and boogie rock, with a flair for catchy, radio-friendly tracks. “Yeah!” was their highest charting album, reaching #98 on the Billboard 200. The single “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and #27 in the UK Singles Chart. It’s a rebellious, anthem-like track that became a schoolyard favorite, especially for its catchy chorus and its portrayal of teenage defiance.

If any song reminds me of being 13 and in grammar school it’s Brownsville Station’s “Smokin’ In The Boys Room” though I actually never smoked in a boys bathroom. That one takes me back to a more innocent time.

I met the late Cub Koda very briefly at a record convention (he was a guest at the Goldmine Magazine booth). He signed my Brownsville Station’s Greatest Hits cd.
