Quote:
It is with great sorrow we share that John Sykes has passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. He will be remembered by many as a man with exceptional musical talent but for those who didn’t know him personally, he was a thoughtful, kind, and charismatic man whose presence lit up the room.

He certainly marched to the beat of his own drum and always pulled for the underdog. In his final days, he spoke of his sincere love and gratitude for his fans who stuck by him through all these years.

While the impact of his loss is profound and the mood somber, we hope the light of his memory will extinguish the shadow of his absence.

R.I.P.

He was one of those players who was always around but who was never appreciated to the degree that he should've been.

Especially the 1987 album. He was the sound and style of that. Though he tried, Coverdale was never able to duplicate it.

I posted about Sykes on my FB yesterday.

Breaks my heart anytime a member of the Lizzy family leaves this earth.

He was just brilliant, and I first discovered him in 1981 with Tygers Of Pan Tang and loved those albums he did with them.

Then, he was with Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake and Blue Murder and solidified his status as one of the top Hard Rock/Metal guitar players on the planet.

He was also a very good singer and outstanding writer.

Fuck cancer.
