Inspired by Linda's Hank Marvin post, I ask you this: which is the greatest guitar instrumental band, The Shadows or The Ventures? I say The Ventures, because they were more prolific and they did "Hawaii Five-O".

Without a doubt, The Ventures. They have had much more international success, more charting singles, more charting albums, and they are still actively recording and performing. Walk Don't Run, Vol. 2 is one of my desert island albums.

Shadows: 31 hits, including five #1's and ten more Top 10 singles
Ventures: 4 hits, including two Top 10 singles
U.S. HOT 100 singles chart
Ventures: 14 hits, including three Top 10 singles
Shadows: 0 hits
