He began his musical career in the Netherlands as band member of Beehive (1973-1974) and Rainbow Train (1975-1979). “Rendez-Vous”, his 2nd solo album, released in 1977 and produced by Hans Vermeulen from Rainbow Train, can be characterized by its mellow melodies and sophisticated arrangements, often blending elements of jazz, pop, and Rhythm & Blues. The album has a distinctive late 70s soft rock and jazz fusion vibe and feels like a celebration of romantic escapism and lyrical storytelling. Each track is crafted with intricate harmonies and lush arrangements that together with Erik Tagg’s soulful voice evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Although the album did not achieve massive commercial success or mainstream chart-topping status, “Rendez-Vous” garnered a dedicated following and critical acclaim within niche music circles. Highlights include the dreamy opener “Got to Be Lovin’ You,” the title track “Rendez-Vous,” the heartfelt “Marja’s Tune,” and the soulful “Mutual Feeling.” Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Erik Tagg’s music, “Rendez-Vous” promises to captivate and delight, making it the perfect soundtrack for both quiet evenings and lively gatherings. This CD release contains 4 extra bonus tracks that were not included on the original vinyl release from 1977. In addition to his solo work, Erik Tagg is also renowned for his collaboration with guitar virtuoso Lee Ritenour. This partnership began in the early 1980s when Tagg became the lead vocalist for Ritenour’s band. Their collaboration resulted in several successful projects, including the acclaimed albums “Rit” (1981) and “Rit 2” (1982).Tracklist 1. Got To Be Lovin’ You 2. Rendez-Vous 3. Lover With Stature 4.
