Description
2019 was a magical year as legendary Byrds co-founders Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman joined forces with superstar Marty Stuart to celebrate 50 years of The Byrds' "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" album. During their sold-out tour, several of the shows were taped and preserved and now Friday Music is very pleased to announce this CD of Sweetheart Of The Rodeo: 50th Anniversary Live.

All the great songs from the epic 1968 release are now presented live and this first-time-ever CD release includes more Byrds classics like "Mr. Tamborine Man," "Turn Turn Turn" and a rare one-time-only tour performance of "Eight Miles High."

This album is impeccably mastered by longtime Byrds fan and friend Joe Reagoso. Truly a sensational recording and a stellar document of one of the greatest tours of our time.

This was already issued on vinyl for Record Store Day 2024 and I believe it's sourced from several different shows from the tour.

I was wondering same thing re the price. Way too high for a single disc (frankly too high for a double IMO), but great tracklist.

The label is not clear about this, but the vinyl version was a 2LP set, and WAN suspects that with 24 tracks this will be a 2CD set.

The show I attended in Hopewell, VA, they played 28 songs, including 2 by Marty Stuart and his boys, 3 Tom Petty covers, and a repeat of You Ain't Goin' Nowhere with audience participation.

So this CD subtracts those 6 songs, and adds the 2 encores = I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better, and Eight Miles High. Truly one of the best concerts I ever attended !!

You know...that's the kinda damn endorsement I don't need to hear right now (as I gnaw my fingers as I look at the number of box sets I have pre-ordered and think - do I really need this.). The clip does not help either - Roger's voice sounds much better than I was expecting...damn it...put it my save for later...see if dips in price...
