R.I.P.
His last role was as the elderly patriarch of the Dutton family in Yellowstone. There was this incredible scene he had with Kevin Costner whch I think was the last acting work he ever did. He really was one of the all time greats.

I guess I saw him on Yellowstone but I'd forgotten it was him. Last thing I remember him from is Boardwalk Empire, where he played a delightfully vicious mob boss coming back from retirement. RIP.

 He made one of my favorite cop films called Short Time (1990) about a detective near retirement who finds out he has a fatal condition and if he dies on duty, his family gets more money so for the rest of the film he is trying to get killed, hilarious. Recommend that once! It’s available free on YouTube.
