Why didn't any of you tell me about this programme? The best thing I have seen in years on the telly box.
I'm starting Season 3 soon, so please, no spoilers about what is to come of how it ends. IF you haven't watched it or heard of it yet, see below. I haven't laughed so much - or been blind sided, or moved to tears so much - in a long time. Henry Winkler is totally amazing, as is Bill Hader (of whom I had no knowledge but I hear he was pretty famous before this) but Sarah Goldberg as the main female lead is absolutely rivetting in her role. Some of the best character work I have ever seen.
Here's my post from 2019 about it in the "Whatcha Streamin" thread. For what it's worth, it appears right below a post by you in that thread. The takeaway here is "always read my posts and base your life on them."

You guys should check out that Bill Hader black comedy called Barry (on HBO). It's very good. An almost impossible combination of drama, humor, and darkness that I don't think I've ever seen before.

I've never seen the show, but Evans says it's good, and that's a strong recommendation. I only wish another IMWANner could second the opinion, to really bolster my resolve. Anyone ...?

Hader is the creative genius behind the show, and he's brilliant in the title role, but the supporting cast is off the charts, and he absolutely lets them shine. Sarah Goldberg is fantastic, as is Anthony Carrigan, but Stephen Root and Henry Winkler are awesome in the show. No spoilers, but Winkler's character arc is so well conceived and performed. I kind of envy those of you seeing it for the first time.
And I'm in if there's a physical set.
