For someone who's supposed to be invulnerable,Kal-El sure gets killed a lot.
His deaths as Superboy also count---and the multiverse ones,if you must...

Wow, he HAS gotten killed a lot over the years! Wonder which incarnation of Superman has had the most "deaths?" Or has it mainly been one per continuity?

I can't help noticing that the great majority of these have occurred since "Crisis" in the mid-1980s. And the earliest ones were designated "imaginary stories." It goes to show how much more death we've come to have in the comics of recent decades.

For me it's the Dawn Of Justice death. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I enjoyed the Snyderverse movies.

I enjoyed the 2007 "Doomsday" animated movie quite a bit. That gets my vote.

How can I be the only one who’s voted Superman 149? It seems like a slam dunk.

Did he die on a basketball court in that one?

Yes indeed. It's the story that essentially was the template for Alan Moore's "Whatever Happened..." And any story that kills off Superman before killing off superheroes became trendy in the 80s automatically deserves more respect. And it was written by Jerry Siegel, who knew a few things about Superman.

Here's my first runner-up. Superman dies three times in this one:
