Is it really good or is that a joke response?

I put down "National Treasure." But I also have a soft spot for Billy Zane's kind of goofy Phantom.

I voted for Jackson's King Kong because it's my favorite of all those listed, although I'm not really sure how inspired by Indy it is.

I do feel like The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck should be listed just because I spent so many accumulated minutes "glancing" at the VHS cover at the gas station back in the day.

More of a joke, but Tawney Kitaen looks amazing in it!

Forced to choose, I'd go with Romancing The Stone, which I prefer over the Indy films.

I liked that movie, too bad the late Treat Williams decided to over-act as the villian.

It's mostly based on the original King Kong, obviously, but I felt that some of the way it handled action and such might have been influenced by Indy. It really had an Indiana Jones vibe to me, but that's obviously subjective.

"Indiana Jones & The Escape From Skull Island" is a great title!

Agreed, he was entertaining but undermined himself as a credible threat to the Phantom -- he seemed like a buffoon instead of a master planner.

Given where the last 2 movies went, I can honestly bet that if these movies had kept happening every 5 years or so after Last Crusade instead of waiting 2 decades, something similar probably would have happened sooner or later.

It's pretty good, but definitely has a cheese factor of its time, much more so than Raiders or Temple of Doom (not being a period piece). Don't watch the sequel, Jewel of the Nile. It's really not good at all.

My pick is the Mummy. Romancing the Stone is a second place finish, but the Mummy captures more of the Indy vibe, being set back in the 30s as well. Brendan Fraser is great in it.

Sharing this just because it was not included, and Tom Selleck is doing his best Indiana Jones.

Tom Selleck was supposed to be Indiana Jones.

I know. This was a consolation role, apparently.

Well, from everything I recall reading about it when it came out, it probably didn't make him feel very consoled.

Apparently he is proud of his role in it.

Quote:
Patrick O’Malley I’m very fond of. You know, because I had signed to do the pilot for Magnum, P.I. , in spite of the fact that I could’ve done both, CBS wouldn’t let me do Raiders [Of the Lost Ark]. At that point, there were movie actors and there were TV actors, so I said, “Well, I guess I’m going to be a TV actor. I love this script.” Before Raiders came along, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, so I said, “So be it: I’ll stand by my contract.” And lo and behold, after that first year, Magnum came on really strong, and it doesn’t make me that special, it makes me in the right place at the right time. But because of that, I was suddenly offered a feature film, an action-adventure picture with a huge budget, and one which was highly successful, by the way. There were actors at that point who had left a series and started a feature career, but there was no one at that point who was trying to do both at the same time. So that was unique. It also made the jury rather tough, because a lot of people didn’t see it that way, so I was walking into an arena where that wasn’t accepted. But it’s a good movie. It holds up.
