I have always loved the family stuff with the heroes, such as Cassie Lang calling Tony Stark Uncle Tony, Helena Wayne from Earth 2 calling Earth 1's Batman, Uncle Bruce, things like that. I wish they kept it more and were not so hateful towards kids (always seem to age them), wives, and even the elderly (would love to write a scene with Cap and Aunt May). Or Crystal's daughter Luna (keep her human) sleeping over at the Baxter building, little moments like that.

Kind of like the old baseball games they use to have. Miss those things a lot.

The Old Timer's Baseball games? Yeah, I always enjoyed those, especially when some old guy who could still hit but not
run was given a designated runner who would run to first for him. It was great to see the old players.

Oh, okay. Yeah, those were good, too. Human moments for the super humans, always fun.

There was also the poker games Ben Grimm would host, playing with other Marvel superheroes. Don't know if they still do that.

I wish I could let you know either way if they still do that -- but I haven't read one of the main universe books in quite a while.

Me too. It's sad because Wednesdays were always comic day for me and so much fun but no more

I think the material is probably out there somewhere, just not from Marvel and DC. I've actually been finding more material I enjoy lately from the indie side, but it might be a little more funky than the stuff you're into? There's no real "classic" superhero material that I've been excited about.

That said, I am curious -- outside of the characters owned by Marvel and DC, what kind of comics would you like to see out there?

I miss old school superhero books on a monthly basis. The crowdfunding is fine but it doesn't sustain me and to be honest, most of the books are quickly forgotten. It just may be impossible at this point, end of an era I guess.

Yeah, I’ve basically accepted that Marvel and DC comics only exist for me in back issues.

With the price of a comic at $4 and up,I'm not even disposed to look for any title to follow.

I collected most of the comic books I've ever wanted, so I have no need to buy anything, really, from the 21st Century.

And I no longer have any interest in buying old back issues from the 1960s and 1970s.

But I have been buying a few Masterworks and more Omnibus volumes from the Silver and Bronze Ages. Many of the
comics reprinted in them I still own, but distribution was spotty enough back then that I still have a few gaps in the titles
like Captain America that I never bought regularly. And some books, like Werewolf by Night, I never really bought at all.

The thing is, even the Bronze Age books that I passed on when I was kid (because I didn't have a lot of money or the
characters were of only marginal interest to me), ANY of those Bronze Age books—for ME today—is miles better than 98%
of anything on the shelves now. So, yeah, that's where I'm getting my reading enjoyment now.

I feel the same. Even the mediocre stuff is better. Though I still struggle with artists like Milgrom or Robbins on Cap.

If I didn't draw, I don't even know how much I'd really even be reading or collecting. I wonder if I'd have lapsed out entirely.

My interest in comics is mainly tied to my dreams of being a great cartoonist, even if I'm too old to actually pursue it now.

You're not too old and I feel the same.
