Buckaroo Banzai for me, hands down. I think it's a forgotten classic of the era.

Galaxy Quest for me. I haven't seen Buckaroo Banzai, though it has always seemed like something from my wheelhouse.

I was going to vote for Back To The Future, since it's such a fun film... but then I saw Galaxy Quest on there and went with that.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy comes to mind (though it’s not the one I picked).

I love almost all of them except for Sleeper, which bored me, and Paul, which was fine although initially I thought I'd never heard of it.

I went with Idiocracy because it fucking nailed where we were and where we were going, and indeed now where we are. A few years ago I had the misfortune of seeing a slouching bro doctor who may well have been inspired to go into slacker medicine by Justin Long's knuckledragger MD..

Went with Back to the Future; Bill and Ted was fun in a stoner kind of way, Spaceballs had hit and miss gags that were completely dependent on you knowing the source material, and Galaxy Quest, while definitely a comedy had a more robust character arc for the characters than I normally associate with Comedy.

You'd enjoy Buckaroo Banzai.

When I saw it at the movies I thought it had the best special effects I'd ever seen up until that point. It has a unique tone to it that I've never seen replicated by any other film.

I kind of want Dark Star to be on here, but Best? Nah.

I wonder what a decent length Monty Python in Space movie would have been like.

Whew, this is one of my favorite genres so there are a lot of movies I love on this list.

I guess I'll have to say Back to the Future, although Galaxy Quest is way up there too, as well as Time Bandits.

Yeah, I thought of that short bit from Life of Brian as well. And I guess Mr. Neutron might fit the bill, too.

I am amazed that I have seen all but 2 of those movies. I would love to go with Galaxy Quest, but it really did not have the punchlines that something like Men In Black does. Are time travel movies automatically sci-fi? I mean, BTTF certainly is, but B&TEA? Groundhog Day is sort of an anti-time travel movie... Time Bandits is more fantasy than sci-fi, I think. How about The Fifth Element? It had a LOT of comedy bits and a LOT of sci-fi and a LOT of romance.

OK, Going with Galaxy Quest. Or not.... Hmmmmm.

Back to the Future, because that is also one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen in any genre.

I think I should have said Back to the Future. It is the superior film. But Galaxy Quest is better as a comedy that is about sci Fi material.
